文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章向我们介绍了Nordic walking (北欧式健走) 这种运动方式。

3 . You may have seen them coming quickly towards you or passing you swiftly. They’re moving steadily, swinging what looks like a ski pole in each hand.     1     These people aren’t skiing. They’re enjoying a type of exercise called Nordic (北欧的)walking. They use poles not for balance but to get their arms working. And their arms do work! In fact, in Nordic walking, the whole upper body gets plenty of exercise.

2     Some of the time, they have to go up hills! They use their poles to help push themselves along. Nordic skiers were the first to use poles while walking. It was a way to train for their sport when there was no snow. Then other people, learning of the health benefits of the exercise, began to do it, too.

In the early days of Nordic walking, all walkers -- skiers and non-skiers alike- used ski poles. In 1988, an American company began making and selling poles especially for walking.     3     That’s because they usually aren’t used in snow. And they don’t stick very deeply into the ground. Some of them come with various tips, or ends, for use on different surfaces.

Although regular walking is healthy, studies have shown that Nordic walking is even healthier.    4     This produces strength in the muscles (肌肉) of the arms and chest. It makes the heart and lungs work harder. For young and old, Nordic walking is a great way to exercise the whole body outdoors.     5

A.Nordic walking poles are shorter than ski poles.
B.And there’s none of the danger of falling on skis.
C.But you aren’t on a ski hill, and there’s no snow in sight.
D.Nordic walking can be performed by anyone at any time.
E.Nordic skiers don’t just slide down hills.
F.Nordic walking is a form of popular sport.
G.With each step, Nordic walkers push themselves forward with one of their poles.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了水中慢跑这项锻炼方式对人体的好处及注意事项。

5 . Water jogging is a workout method where people get into the water and copy the movement of jogging. This workout routine relies on the resistance of moving inside water to build up muscles and increase endurance (耐力).     1     This is because it is considered very effective at burning food energy.

When people attempt this workout method, it is usually important to be floating in the water at a depth that doesn’t allow the feet to touch. The tenseness of the body while doing the exercise can make it difficult to remain floating, so most people use some tools. The main devices are belts that keep people floating at an exact depth so that they are submerged (淹没) shoulder level.     2

Water jogging can potentially be useful for almost anybody, but many of the people who try this exercise method are attempting to recover from injuries. It is considered particularly good in this situation for a lot of reasons.     3     Being removed from the effects of gravity can allow for movements that don’t put as much strain on the body, especially in the joints.

4     For example, some movements have increased resistance underwater, including any movements of the arms. When running on the ground, there is no significant resistance against the arms, but water jogging can potentially allow a person to build up muscles in that area.

Sometimes water jogging can be very difficult for people who are just starting out.     5     To deal with the issue of boredom, some people may find ways to change the workout by mixing in different levels of intensity (强度). This can potentially decrease the sense of boredom.

A.The water has other potential benefits as well.
B.We all hope to have the ability to float easily in the water.
C.Some find the exercise doesn’t hold their attention very well.
D.When people are floating in water, they are generally weightless.
E.Many people also believe that water jogging is a good way to lose weight.
F.It requires access to a pool deep enough to run without touching the bottom.
G.People also often wear special shoes that increase the resistance of the water.

6 . On Saturday night, a five-person team of the Chinese e-sports club, with the full name EDward Gaming, won the 2021 League of Legends World Championship in Reykjavik , Iceland , beating defending champion Damwon KIA (DK) from South Korea. The live streaming of the championship had over 200 million viewers on two major domestic smartphone apps and other channels.

The team has taken the opportunity to share Chinese culture with the world. At the beginning of the championship, the members of EDG and other staff displayed tai chi, martial arts and traditional Chinese costumes in Reykjavik, launching a “Chinese hurricane” in the Icelandic capital. Now the posting of photos and videos on social networks have spread that hurricane to the whole world.

With the popularity of digital technology, new forms of cultural exchanges have been appearing, of which e-sports are of the hottest. Unlike texts and videos, e-sports go beyond the barriers of language and are understandable around the world.

Also e-sports appeal most to those in their early 20s, as shown by the carnival of college students on Saturday night. That in turn makes them a good bridge of communication between Chinese youngsters and their counterparts (同行) around the world. More importantly, the e-sports industry is sustainable (可持续的) in spreading Chinese culture, as the large audiences mean huge commercial potential. In 2020 alone, the sales profit of the domestic e-sports industry went beyond $ 43.56 billion, and involved 280,000 companies, which in turn created over 10 million jobs.

As early as 2019, Hainan province announced its ambitious plan of building an international e-sports center. On Nov 5, the Organizing Committee of the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou city, announced it had listed eight e-sports as events in the Games. Both show the strong policy support being given to e-sports.

With more Chinese star gaming clubs and teams appearing, the industry is expected to boom and continue spreading Chinese culture to the world.

10 . Watching a young, 21-year-old Jordan Spieth win the US Masters today, I could not help but think of the great qualities he displayed to win the most famous golf event on the calendar against the greatest players in the world.

Jordan Spieth has learned to keep himself in check. There is a great proverb: “A fool shares all his or her feelings while a wise man keeps them in check.” As I watched Spieth playing, I noticed a constant calm around him. Whether he hit the shot he wanted or not, he was the same and kept his emotions steady (稳定的) and strong. He never blamed the crowd, clubs or wind.

He knows which club he is going to drive with on every hole; he knows which side of the fairway (高尔夫球道) to land and exactly where he wants to be standing on every green when he is putting; he has played it through his minds for months. He is the person who makes things happen by planning in advance. Winning is not a fluke (侥幸击中); it’s a by-product of months and years of planning. Nothing happens by chance.

If there is an event that every golfer dreams of winning, it’s the US Masters. So, how would Spieth have felt in 2014 getting so close to winning but coming second? As good as second was, he only wanted to be first. The difference between great shots and poor shots at the Masters is only inches. In that 2014 final round, Spieth was standing on the 8th hole with a 2-shot lead, but through a number of small misses he lost it and never recovered it. However, he never stops learning. As a great person once said, “While you’re green, you’re growing; when you’re brown, you’re dying.” He stays green. He is always reading, learning, and he understands that the greatest teacher of all is failure.

1. Which description is suitable for Jordan Spieth?
A.He can control himself properly.B.He likes to share his feelings.
C.He is a man of great knowledge.D.He usually uses sayings when speaking.
2. What does the third paragraph want to tell about Jordan Spieth?
A.He always has a game plan and sticks to it.
B.He never does anything until it really happens.
C.He usually decides on a club to join in advance.
D.He can’t bear losing the chance of winning a game.
3. How did Jordan Spieth feel in the 2014 Masters?
A.Inspired.B.Satisfied.
C.Doubtful.D.Curious.
4. What is the text mainly about?
A.Feelings of losing the US Masters.B.Sports qualities of Jordan Spieth.
C.Basic skills of winning a golf game.D.Golfers’ dreams of joining the Masters.
