1 . Five years ago, French navy officer Jérôme Chardon was listening to a radio program about the journey of the bar-tailed godwit, a bird that migrates 14,000 kilometers between New Zealand and Alaska. Chardon understood how treacherous the journey would be, as heavy storms frequently hit Pacific island communities. Yet, somehow, bar-tailed godwits routinely pass through the area uninjured. Chardon wondered whether learning how birds traveled could help coastal communities avoid natural disasters.

Frugalpac, a company from the UK, has created wine bottles made of recycled paper, so no trees need to be cut down. Frugalpac still uses a plastic liner, though.

7 . As Covid-19 spread through the United States in the spring of 2020, previously busy cities fell silent. A new study shows that the dip in noise in the early months of the pandemic (大流行病) led to an increased abundance of birds in cities.

The flock to cities ranged “from birds like hawks and eagles all the way down to small songbirds and even hummingbirds” says Michael Schrimpf, study co-author and postdoctoral flow at the University of Manitoba’s Natural Resources Institute.

This rule will help to facilitate the creation of a new California condor release place for the reintroduction of condors to Yurok Ancestral Territory and Redwood National and State Parks. Considering the date of the completion of the condor release place may be ahead of schedule, the actual release of condors would be spring of 2022.

10 . Opening day at the nation’s second-largest school district unfolded with a mix of emotions: frustration over long waits, anxiety over health protocols and concern for how things would go for children who have been learning online for a year and a half.
