Enter your poem for a chance to win something! Our poetry contest is held twice a year. Write a poem about how the pandemic (疫情) has changed your life.
Prizes
The contest awards one first place prize of $2,000 and a first prize wall plaque ($100 value); twenty second place prizes of $100 each and a second place wall plaque ($75 value); one hundred third place winners of a third place wall plaque ($25 value).
Rules
Follow all rules carefully to prevent disqualification (取消资格).
IMPORTANT:
☆Poet must be at least thirteen years of age.
☆Only one poem per person, per family is allowed.
☆A poem in its entirety must be an original work by the person centering the contest.
☆All entries are judged anonymously (匿名地). Please do not include your name, address, phone number, etc., or your entry will be disqualified.
Deadline: Email your entry by 31st May 2022.
Length: 42 lines max. No minimum. Title not included in the line count.
Format: Entries must be typed. We do not accept handwritten submissions.
Fees: £10 per poem.
Judging: The judges’ decision is final and no individual correspondence (通信) can be entered into. Judges are unable to comment on individual entries. Judging is fair.
Copyright: Worldwide copyright of each entry remains with the author but the Bridport Prize has unrestricted rights to publish the winning and highly praised poems.

2 . There are around 400,000 students in London. As university can be a costly time, many of these students will want to look for part-time work. Here are 4 relatively easy jobs to bag yourself in London and ensure a bit of pocket money through your university experience.
Waitressing
It is not hard to find waitressing jobs since London has an abundance of pubs and eateries. Gumtree and Indeed are good places for such opportunities. Hospitality UK and Next door are other great websites. However, as many of these positions are advertised on the windows of restaurants and pubs, going inside and asking the staff there about the positions is a much better idea. This will also demonstrate you as active and confident. Rates are around £12--15 an hour.
Mystery (神秘)shopping
It may not have you laughing to the bank but it's extra pocket money. You go at any time as a regular customer and check out the services that the business provides. You report back to the client and they will pay for your purchases alongside £5 —10.
Care Assistant
For those who have a heart of gold and want to help, caring is the way. There's a huge demand for people to spend your free time with elderly people or help people with disabilities. It can be cooking meals or making sure they're taking their medicine on time.
Receptionist
If you're a good communicator and can act professionally, a receptionist might be a great opportunity for you, which will help you build administrative skills and experience. Receptionist jobs are available at doctors surgeries, dentists, gyms, large offices and more.

Founded in 1956, New Scientist is the world’s most popular weekly science and technology magazine. The magazine’s teams in London and around the world cover international news from a scientific standpoint and ask the biggest-picture questions about life, the universe, and what it means to be human.
We’re offering a learning and development opportunity open to anyone. Successful applicants will begin a 6-month internship in October. The internship will be based in our High Street Kensington office, London.
Internship positions: two news interns and one video intern
● News interns will receive one to cone mentoring (指导) from an experienced journalist and on-the-job training in news and features writing, with your work published both online and in print.

8 . Google’s new camera, called Clips, is a smart device. It comes with a case that has a clip (夹 子), but it’s not designed to be worn on your clothing. Most interestingly, it uses artificial intelligence to take photography out of your hands and captures moments entirely on its own!
What sets this roughly 2-inch by 2-inch camera, with a three-hour battery life and Gorilla Glass for toughness apart is that it is specially intended for candid moments, like when a child does something cute that may happen too quickly for you to pull out your smartphone.
The Clips device, it uses machine learning algorithms ( 计 算 程 序 ) to help capture scenes. Those algorithms include face recognition. “Once it learns that there’s a face you see frequently, it’ll try to get nice photos of those faces,” said Juston Payne, the device’s product manager. And they also want it to recognize facial expressions, which involved “training it to know what happiness looks like”. The Google team also trained it to recognize what not to shoot—like when a child’s hand is over the lens, or if it is tossed in a dark purse.
The only way to see the images is by connecting the camera with your phone, as it has no screen for viewing or editing.
Concerned it could seem strange? Yes, Payne admitted, but he said they addressed that by making it obvious what it is. A green light on the front signals that it is on. Besides, unlike a camera meant to monitor your home, it is not connected to the Internet.
“This product is only possible because of the way that silicon(硅) has advanced,” Payne said that now they could squeeze the technology down into a device this size. Going forward, we’re likely to get more assistance from the artificial intelligence packed into our apps and gadgets.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
This novel centers around a boy with autism (自闭症) and a mystery that the readers get to experience from the viewpoint of Christopher John Francis Boone. He doesn’t understand human emotion, and living this mystery through this angle is a thoughtful way for teens to understand the ways in which people can differ yet also be the same.
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’ Engle
Though this book recently became popular again due to the release of the movie version, the movie is not a substitute for this beautiful story about family and the process of embracing who you truly are through the angle of space and time exploration.
