Mount Vesuvius is an active volcano located just east of Naples, Italy. Vesuvius's earliest     2     (record) eruption is now its most famous. In the year A. D. 79,     3     little or no warning, Vesuvius erupted and completely buried the ancient city of Pompeii. The destruction was so complete that it was not until sixteen hundred years later     7     the city was discovered. Evidence of the religion, culture, and everyday life of the Pompeiians, all     8     (leave) behind in the sudden panic of the volcano's catastrophe, are     9     (remarkable) well preserved. And everywhere there are     10     (remind) of its sudden eruption and the shadow of Vesuvius. Even the forms of the citizens remain. Their bodies lie much as they did on the day of their death almost twenty centuries ago.

Yangon is the largest city in Myanmar. As Myanmar’s     1    (commerce) and artistic center, Yangon most reflects the changes that have taken place since the country reopened to the world. There     2    (be) many new restaurants, bars and shops.

The wilderness(荒野) is one of Canada’s treasures and the Canadian national parks are the system through     1     the Canadian government protects, preserves and displays some of the country’s most     2     (impress) territory for the benefit of residents, visitors and the environment.

Every national park in Canada is a little bit different, but the majority are     3     (heavy) forested areas with mountainous landscapes that get snowy in the winter. Most national parks can be used     4     hiking, cycling and camping, as well as skiing during snowy months.

All of Canada’s national parks     5    (run) by the Canadian federal government and many have unique rules that must be obeyed.
