文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了未来学校的电子化特点。

1 . What the future school will look like is difficult to make clear, but most experts agree that the school will be electronic in the future.

“Present-day schools will no longer exist in the next century,” says a report in The Age. “At that time, schools will become community-style centers, which run seven days a week, and 24 hours a day.” At the same time, computers will surely become a central part of the school in the future.

According to The Age, the distance learning will be popular and students will listen to teachers on computers. Going into classrooms on their computers, students will study at any time, which is very easy for them. However, it is necessary for students to go to the actual school in order to develop some social skills.

Seashore Primary School is an imaginary school in the future created by the Education Department of Australia. At this school, all the teachers and students have laptop computers. Teachers check messages and call students back with a special telephone system and students use telephones to search for information or speak to their teachers who give their lessons. Besides, all the lessons are related to all sorts of subjects and all the students have their own learning plans created by teachers.

As one headmaster says, a laptop computer is a student’s library, data storage (数据存储) device as well as the bridge to a wider world. Technology has changed the emphasis of future learning. Thus, we’ll pay more attention to the learning of kids rather than the teaching.

1. According to the report in The Age, students in future schools will ________.
A.mainly study onlineB.study at set times
C.have no teachersD.never go to actual schools
2. The example of Seashore Primary School is given to show _______.
A.telephones are important in AustraliaB.how future schools will work
C.every student needs a learning planD.students enjoy getting in touch with teachers
3. What does the underlined word “emphasis” in the last paragraph mean?
A.Lesson.B.Score.C.Attitude.D.Focus.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,主要讲的是对2050年的生活的展望。

2 . We don’t know how different our life will be in the future. We can only try to imagine it. At first we think about human relationships. In the year 2050, we will use computers almost every day. We will be making new friends through the Internet even our husbands or wives will be met in this way. It will be much faster and easier for us. On the other hand, our relationships with people won’t be as important as they are today—we will feel a little lonely.

Computers will also help us in many other activities in 2050. For example, they will be used by the children at school to make their learning easier. In addition, there will be much more other machines which will play a similar role as computers, like robots which will do the housework for us.

Spending holidays will also be completely different. Travelling to other planets or to the moon will be available for everyone. Means of transport will, of course, change, too. We will be using solar-powered cars, which will be much more environmentally friendly.

We could expect that the faster technological progress would lead to a more polluted environment. But it isn’t true. We will pay more attention to the environment protection. Scientists will probably find cures for many dangerous diseases, like cancer or AIDS. Therefore, our surroundings as well as our health will be in better condition.

Although we can’t predict the exact changes which will be made in the world, we often think about them. We worry about our and our children’s future; we have expectations, hopes as well as fears. But I think we should be rather sanguine about our future. We should be happy and believe good things will happen.

1. What can we know about our life in 2050 from the first three paragraphs?
A.The number of people will become much smaller.
B.Computers will play a much more important role in human life.
C.Robots will replace people to work.
D.Computers will do all the things for human beings.
2. What will our living condition be like in the future?
A.Faster technological progress will pollute our environment seriously.
B.Our environmental condition won’t change any more.
C.We will still suffer from cancer and AIDS.
D.Our living condition will be improved in the future.
3. What does the underlined word “sanguine” in the last paragraph most probably mean?
A.Disappointed.B.Surprised.
C.Positive.D.Curious.
4. What does the text mainly talk about?
A.How people will communicate in the year 2050.
B.What our life will be like in the year 2050.
C.How people will travel and spend their holidays in the year 2050.
D.What high technology will appear in the year 2050.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了作者预测未来手机可能会出现的功能。

7 . Forecasting the technological future is difficult. Back in the 1980s, the thought of carrying around a small, portable phone seemed to belong in the world of science fiction. Then in the 1990s, imagining a phone that would allow you to surf the Internet something that didn’t even exist until 1990 was unheard-of. Today, smartphones can surf the Web, run applications and play games, and those with a near field communication (NFC) chip can act as a way to make purchases. And they can still make phone calls, too.

So what will phones look like in 2050? Based upon phone customer behavior, I imagine the future phones will rely more on combiningour physical lives with our digital lives. They probably won’t be similar to the ones we’re reusing now. They’ll be built into other devices and products. Imagine a pair of glasses that can display a digital overlay on top of your physical surroundings.

I don’t think video chat is taking off despite services like Skype and FaceTime. Rather, the trend seems to be toward asynchronous (非同步的) communication. That means the two or more people in a conversation complete a discussion over time.

We might even see the phone part of phones disappear. Recent phone customer behavior suggests that texting is a more popular way to communicate than telephone calls. Future phones will need a way to display messages but don’t necessarily include voice communication.

Since we’re talking about 2050 here, there’s even the possibility that research into brain-computer interfaces (脑机接口) will have reached a point in which we won’t need a physical screen or microphone at all. Electronics could be built into clothing. You’d link the devices to an interface connected to your brain and post messages just through thought. I’d be a form of telepathy (心灵感应).

But what do you think? Will we be wearing devices that let us communicate easily? Or will we be carrying around the iPhone 47 and answering texts between games of Angry Birds? Let us know your predictions.

1. What will future phones be like according to the author?
A.Texting may disappear.
B.NFC chips can be used for purchasing.
C.Phones will combine our lives with our work.
D.Phones may be built into other products.
2. With the development of brain-computer interfaces,                      .
A.we may send messages just through thought
B.phones can be connected directly to your brain
C.clothing may be made into the screen of phones
D.telepathy between people and animals may come true
3. From the text, we know that          .
A.people started surfing the Internet in the 1980s
B.we will be carrying around the iPhone 47 in 2050
C.the author’s prediction about phones is based on phone customer behavior
D.the author is negative about the development of brain-computer interfaces
4. Which column of the newspaper does the passage come from?
A.Economy.B.Science.
C.Health.D.Entertainment.

With the development of science and technology, intelligent robots will be wide used in the future. In families, robots will help people do some housework and taking care of the elderly, babies and patients. In addition to these task, robots will even be able to play the chess and do exercise with people. In factories, robots will be used to perform some dangerous jobs avoid accidents.

Robots will change our future life by many ways, that will make it more colorful and comfortable. Therefore, we shouldn’t depend on intelligent robots too much, for they were made to help humans rather than replace us. As helpers of humans, robots should be used proper.
