文章大意:这是一篇记叙文。文章主要介绍了作者一家人的坦桑尼亚之旅及旅途中看到的动物。

2 . During this holiday, my family took a trip to Tanzania. Getting there was really an adventure! We took fifteen different planes. The ride was difficult, but the scenery was amazing. When we arrived, the time difference was difficult to deal with, but after a few nights I got used to it. We stayed in a safari resort (游猎度假村). There were all kinds of noises. But they weren’t ones I was used to hearing; the noises came from animals and insects.

On our first day, we saw a herd of giraffes and two rhinos (犀牛). Our guide Mishi told us that the two black rhinos had been caught and brought here because they were in danger of dying out due to poachers (偷猎者), who wanted them for their horns (角). The two rhinos are not in a zoo but in guarded pens (牲畜栏) of about 100 acres.

The next day, Mishi took us to a river. In it, there are big crocodiles (鳄鱼) and even bigger hippos. After we took pictures, Mishi brought us to a suspension (悬挂) bridge. My family was very nervous about crossing it after seeing what was in the river and there was a sign saying “No more than one person on the bridge each time”. Mishi finally promised us that it was not dangerous, and she was right! We all made it to the other side in one piece.

After we explored a little in the area, we found a long line of ants. I noticed that a few were bigger than the others and these bigger ants were walking next to the line, as if keeping the others in order. Mishi told us that they were called Army Ants and were used by old Tanzanian tribes (部落) for medical treatment. They could live with nature harmoniously.

After many days of fun and great adventure, our trip was over. I am looking forward to going back someday.

3 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。续写的词数应为150左右。

It was one of the hottest days of the dry season. We had not seen rain in almost a month. The crops were dying. Cows had stopped giving milk. The streams were long gone back into the earth. If we didn’t see any rain soon we would lose everything. It was on that day that I learned the true lesson of sharing and witnessed the only miracle I have seen in my life.

I was in the kitchen making lunch for my husband and his brothers when I saw my six-year old son, Billy, walking toward the woods. I could only see his back. He wasn’t walking in his usual way. He was obviously walking with a great effort, trying to be as still as possible. Minutes after he disappeared into the woods, he came running out again, toward the house. I went back to making sandwiches, thinking that whatever he had been doing was completed. Moments later, however, he was once again walking in that unusual way toward the woods. This activity went on for over an hour: walking cautiously to the woods, then running back to the house. Finally, my curiosity got the best of me. I crept out of the house and followed him on his journey.

He was cupping both hands in front of him as he walked; being very careful not to spill the water he carried. I followed him secretly as he went into the woods. Branches and thorns(刺) slapped his little face but he did not try to avoid them. He might have a much greater purpose, I thought. As I leaned in to spy on him, I saw the most amazing sight. Several large deer appeared threatening in front of him. But Billy walked right up to them, at the sight of which I almost screamed for him to get away. A huge buck(雄鹿) was dangerously close. But the buck didn’t threaten him nor even move as Billy knelt down. And then I saw a baby deer lying on the ground, obviously suffering from thirst and heat, lift its head with great effort to lap (舔)up the water cupped in my beautiful boy’s hands.

注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应的位置作答。

When the water was gone, Billy jumped up to run back to the house.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章主要讲述了布料设计的自然色彩有助于保护沿海森林。

5 . Batik is a traditional Indonesian coloring method used to make designs and drawings, usually on cloth and finished textiles. Batik makers use dyes(染料)—colors added to cloth and other materials—to create the colorful designs.

In central Indonesia, many batik makers are using natural dyes instead of manufactured ones. The natural dyes used come from mangrove (红树林) forests that grow along the coast. The trees grow in salty water on a complex system of tall roots.

Mangrove forests serve an important purpose. They provide a barrier against destructive ocean waves called tsunamis. They also are important to water life like fish and crabs. And the forests are more effective in taking in carbon dioxide gas, a gas linked to climate change, than rainforests or similar environments.

Erwin Ardli is a mangrove ecologist at Indonesia’s Jenderal Soedirman University. He says the natural dyes may not be as bright as manufactured ones. But they are better for the environment.

Ardli said, “We’ve seen the interest for natural dyes increasing, and especially for middle-to upper-class people, they seem proud to wear clothes using these natural dyes rather than synthetic (合成的) ones.”

Iiting Budiarti, who owns an art gallery that shows Batik designs, agreed with Ardli, adding that objects with natural dyes can cost two or three times more than the synthetic ones.

Forty-eight-year-old Sodikin is a batik maker. Over the past four years, he and his group of batik makers have changed from using chemical materials for dyes to mangrove-based products. The change has reduced their costs and helped the environment. Harvesting involves gathering a handful of what looks like string beans—seeds within a covering. Sodikin then takes the mangrove fruit home to make natural dye from them.

“We use natural materials so as to preserve the mangrove forest at the same time,” Sodikin said, “We do not cut down the trees,” he added, “and we only take fruits or leaves that have fallen.”

1. What does “batik” in paragraph 1 refer to?
A.A traditional Indonesian color.B.A way of coloring.
C.A kind of cloth.D.A material for designs.
2. Why does the author introduce the mangrove forests in Paragraph 3?
A.To research the source of the natural dyes.

3. What can we say about the natural dyes in Indonesia?

4. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.Natural Colors for Cloth Design Help Coastal Forests

文章大意:本文是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了当辐射开始进入周围,16万居民中只有松村直人和加藤佐江选择留下照顾动物的故事。

8 . When clouds of radiation began streaming into the air around the Fukushima nuclear plant, 160,000 residents were told to simply cut and run. However, it seems only 159,998 residents listened. The other two, Naoto Matsumura and Sakae Kato, remained. Evidently, the city possessed not one, but two men whose love of animals cracked through their inborn sense of self-preservation.

Living within the 12.5-mile exclusion zone (禁区) around the damaged reactor, the two men, unrelated to one another, both live alone while taking care of dozens of animals that were left behind when the evacuation (撤离) order was given.

57-year-old Kato has 41 cats in his home in the mountains along with a dog. Kato says he will stay with his cats and ensure they are comfortable all through their lives. Kato's generosity isn't restricted to his own animals, and he feeds local wild animals as well.

Matsumura left the city at first, but returned shortly after for his own animals. Once returned, the now 55-year-old realized that everyone else's pets and livestock were still there, so he began taking care of a broad community of animals including pigs, cats, dogs and cows. After it became clear no one was coming back to the neighborhood, he went around unchaining dogs from trees, letting cows out of their barns, and feeding anything that needed it, earning him the moniker the “Guardian of Fukushima’s Animals”.

According to scientists from JAXA, the Japanese national space agency, Matsumura is also the “champion”— the most irradiated man in the country. Despite this, they've advised him it will likely be 30-40 years before radiation begins to wreck his biology, a timeline which will see him “likely dead by then”.

Everything both Kato and Matsumura are doing is technically illegal, and police have ordered them both to leave the area. Yet they seemingly couldn’t be less bothered by the government’s demands, and both plan to stay there with their animals come what may.
1. What made the two men decide to live in the exclusion zone?
A.The possession left in the city.
B.Being left behind by other residents.
C.Their love for animals from inner heart.
D.Their inborn sense of self-preservation.
2. Which of the following words best describes Matsumura?
A.Kind-hearted.B.Strong-minded.C.Generous.D.Optimistic.
3. What does the underlined word “wreck” in paragraph 5 mean?
A.Save.B.Damage.C.Remove.D.Scan.
4. What will happen to the two men next?
A.They will leave the exclusion zone.
B.They will be arrested by the police.
C.They will obey the government’s demands.
D.They will remain there to take care of the animals.
