1 . When you are in Mérida of Mexico, you can take any of the transportation ways.
On foot
Once you are in the city center, getting around Mérida on foot is very convenient. Most of the main attractions are centrally located, and you’ll have a hard time getting lost thanks to the city’s thoughtful construction.
By bike
If you’d rather explore the city on two wheels, do so at your own risk. Bikers will be especially pleased on Sundays, when some of Mérida’s most beautiful and popular motorways shut down to car traffic for bikes. For the event, you’ll find many bike rental shops open for business.
By car
If you plan to explore the areas surrounding Mérida during your trip, renting a car is a good choice. For travelers who do not plan to leave the city of Mérida, a rental car can still be useful. If you do choose to rent a car, booking it ahead of your trip will likely save you money. Be prepared to show a credit card and a valid driver’s license from your home country.
By bus
There are a number of local bus ways that visitors can take advantage of during their stay. Bus stops are everywhere throughout the city, and most run from around 6 am to 11 pm. However, people who are not locals may find it difficult to determine which way to take and where to find the bus stops. See the Mérida transportation website for information on specific way.

2 . Last summer holiday, Aunt Emily took us to a safari park (野生动物园), not far from Liverpool.
I was very happy to go as I had never been to a safari park before. It’s a very interesting park, full of wild animals running freely.
When we got there, we bought our tickets and drove into the park. We were very excited at the thought of going to see the lions. But to get to the lions’ place we had to go through the monkeys’ land first. And that was an unforgettable experience because they climbed all over the car, ate apples and bananas, and threw all kinds of things at us. They seemed very unfriendly.
Anyway, we went on our way to the lions’ place where we had to lock ourselves in the car as we knew lions could be dangerous. A lion came up very close to us. Then it was on the bonnet (车盖). It looked calm but we felt terrified. Aunt Emily, who isn’t very brave, started to call for help. The kids started crying. Only my brother, George, stayed cool. I sounded the horn (喇叭) but nobody heard us.
In the end a guard arrived in his car, and the lion just got off our car and started smelling the guard’s hand as if nothing was the matter.

3 . Both of my parents worked fulltime when I was a little girl,so my grandmother would stay at our house during the day. We would watch game shows in the living room. Our favorite was The Price Is Right. We would call out our answers along with the contestants.
When I got older and started going to school,we couldn’t watch our game shows regularly. That was okay with me,though, because the one thing I liked better than watching game shows with my grandmother was helping her bake cakes. Watching her in the kitchen was amazing:she never seemed to need the recipes(食谱)but everything she made tasted delicious.
At first I would just sit in the kitchen and watch, even though I didn’t understand what she was doing. As I got older, she let me help with the easy parts, such as measuring the sugar. The day she let me separate the eggs,I felt like I had found complete pleasure.
At last,my parents decided that I could take care of myself, and my grandmother stopped coming over every day. The love of baking, however, stayed with me. I started baking by myself, and even if the cookies ended up burnt sometimes, more often they turned out pretty well. I tried out new recipes, and whenever I got to a thorny part,I would call my grandmother for advice. Sometimes I would call her just to talk too. I felt like I could talk to her about anything.
My grandmother passed away ten years ago,but I still think of her every day. Last week,I found a recipe book she made for me. It included her recipes for brownies, cookies, and my favorite, lemon pie. As I looked through the pages,I thought I could hear her voice. She was the one who taught me not just about baking, but about life.
