文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍了互联网诞生的原因。
1 . 阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。

The Internet started in     1     1960s as a way for government researchers to share information. Computers then were too large and heavy     2     (move) and in order to make use of information in any computer, one had to either travel to the site of the computer or have computer tapes     3     (send) through the traditional postal system.

Another reason     4     the birth of the Internet was the heating up of the Cold War. The Soviet Union’s launch of the Sputnik satellite made the USA consider ways that information could still be shared even after an attack. This led to the     5     (appear) of the ARPANET (Advanced Research Project Agency Network),     6     eventually developed into the Internet. ARPANET was a great success but membership     7     (limit) to certain research organizations. In response to this, other networks were created to provide information sharing.

January 1, 1983 is considered the official birthday of the Internet. Before this, the     8     (variety) computer networks did not have a standard way to communicate with each other. A new communication protocol (协议) called Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) was founded. This allowed different     9     (kind) of computers on different networks to “talk” to each other. ARPANET and other networks     10     (official) changed to the TCP/IP standard on January 1, 1983, hence the birth of the Internet.

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom where there lived a king who only had one leg and one eye. But his skill, intelligence and generosity made him a competent ruler. As a result, the people in his kingdom lived a joyful and healthy life under his rule. Then, one day while the King was walking in his palace, he noticed the portraits(肖像) of his ancestors along the hallway. The paintings of his ancestors sparked(触发) a thought in the King’s mind. He thought that his children would walk the same hallway one day and remember all the ancestors through these portraits.

So the King sent an invitation to all the painters from across the kingdoms to his court. He announced that he wanted a beautiful portrait made of himself that would be placed in the palace. So any painter who wants to paint his picture should come forward. The painter will be rewarded based on how good the painting will turn out.

The painters started to panic and thought about making the King with only one leg and one eye look beautiful. How can his picture be beautiful? It is not possible. They were also scared that the King may get angry and punish them if the portrait did not turn out beautiful. So one by one, all the painters started to make excuses and politely declined to make a painting of the King.

But one young painter raised his hand and said that he would make a beautiful portrait of the King that the King would like. The King was finally happy hearing that at least one of the painters was interested in making his painting. The other painters got curious about how this young painter would make a beautiful painting of the King. The King excitedly permitted him, and the painter started drawing the portrait. He then filled the drawing with paints. Finally, after a long wait, he said that the picture was ready!

A Sepcial Christmas Gift

December 1st. Always on that day, Mom would softly announce, “It’s time.” When we heard those words, we all knew was time to write our letters to Santa. So, we began our special letters. Jimmy asked for a baseball. Wilbur like anything to do with art. This was my letter to Santa.

My Mom and Dad say I have been very good this year. I only want two toys this year. But what I want most is a dog. I have been asking for one all year. Mom and Dad say we can’t afford to feed an animal right now. It makes me sad, but it’s alright. Maybe next year Mom will say it’s OK. That’s all, Santa. Say hi to Mrs. Claus. And Merry Christmas.

Love, Sheila

The next morning we would walk three blocks to the large red, white and blue mailbox on the corner of Stimson and Forth. It was a special mailbox, only for letters children wrote to Santa.

Christmas Eve finally arrived. I was so excited that I found it difficult to fall asleep. But sleep finally came and so did Christmas morning. I woke up hearing my brothers down the hall shouting at my Mom and Dad. “Wake up! Wake up! Santa came! Come on! Come on!” Jimmy came running and jumping on my bed. “Santa’s been here! Come on! Let’s open presents!”

We all ran downstairs. Our eyes were shining like wildfire as we eyed over plenty of presents under the tree. Then Dad handed out the gifs one at a time. I kept watching as my brothers unwrapped gift after gift. Dad said, “This year you are going to be last to get your presents, because you are the oldest.” I didn’t think anything of it but nodded.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文,文章主要介绍了NFT给数字艺术带来了价值。数字艺术可以复制,而且很容易免费获取,但NFT可以提供一种数字证书,证明拥有人对所创造的独特虚拟或有形资产的所有权。

10 . In November, “NFT” was chosen as 2021's “Word of the Year” by Collins Dictionary. NFT is short for Non-Fungible Token. It is a “one-of-a-kind” property in the digital world that can be bought and sold like any other piece of property but has no tangible (可触摸的) form. Now, NFTs are becoming popular in the art world.

Unlike the traditional artworks that are made by hand and have their own special technique, digital arts can be copied and gained for free. But NFTs could provide a digital certificate (证明), showing the ownership of a unique virtual or physical artwork.

“In the digital world, you wouldn't know if something is a copy of something else because the copy is almost perfect. The NFT was the first to prove who owns this property,” said Pindar Wong, chairman of Internet financial infrastructure consultancy VeriFi.

Along with protecting ownership, NFTs allow the owner to get a payment each time his/her work is sold. The artwork itself still belongs to the owner, and the buyers can get limited rights to show the digital artwork. So whenever the NFTs are sold, each transaction (交易) can only be made with the owner.

“NFTs can ensure that owners, including artists or musicians, can have a part of the income from every transaction, which could encourage their creations,” said Sylvia Wang, a consultant at business-to-business platform ArtBiz Asia.

That's why many experts believe that NFTs can greatly change the art industry. According to the latest report, in the first half of 2021, the sales of NFT digital artworks reached $ 2.5 billion, an increase from just $13.7 million for the same period in 2020.

US artist Mike Winkelmann said that with the help of NFT technology, the art field has entered a new time. He created a digital work of art — Everydays: The First 5, 000 Days. In March, it was sold for $ 69 million.

1. What is NFT?
A.A piece of artwork.B.A kind of property.
C.A useful dictionary.D.A copy of something else.
2. What can we know about digital artworks?
A.They have tangible forms.B.They hardly have any value.
C.They are very easy to copy.D.It's easy to identify their owners.
3. What does Sylvia Wang agree with?
A.NFTs could largely benefit owners.
B.The creator can't get paid for digital works.
C.NFTs have the chance to replace real artworks.
D.Buyers have no right to use the digital artworks.
4. What could be a suitable title for the text?
A.The Charm of Digital ArtB.Hot Words of the Year 2021
C.Digital Art Changing the Art FieldD.NFT Creating Value in Digital Art
