文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章主要就保持睡眠健康提出了一些建议。

1 . How was your sleep last night? Sleep is important for health. How can we have healthy sleep? Take a look at some advice.

Wake up naturally. Waking up to a ringing alarm is never fun. Studies show that when you get shocked by the alarm, your breathing will go up, your heart will have more beats and your blood pressure will rise.

“This is a very unhappy way to start the day,” sleep scientist Whitney Roban said. “You’ll feel worse if you go back to sleep a few more minutes. It’s important to follow your body’s natural sleep-wake cycle (循环).”

So what should we do? Try to use. an alarm with softer and lower sounds. Or leave a crack (缝隙) in the curtains (窗帘) — the rising sun will wake you up.

Sleep early and get up early Some young people may go to bed late and get up late such as sleeping from 2 am to 10 am. They think as long as they have eight hours of sleep, everything will be fine.

But in fact, our bodies can tell time. They use light and temperature to do so. If we wake up too late, our bodies might feel stuck between sleep and being awake. That’s why sometimes we feel even more tired after oversleeping.

1. According to studies, what will happen to your body if an alarm wakes you up suddenly?
A.Your heart will beat faster.B.You may breathe more slowly.
C.Your body temperature will go up.D.You will have lower blood pressure
2. Which of the following does Whitney Roban agree with?
A.Trying to use an alarm with louder sounds.B.Going back to sleep again after waking up.
C.Reading magazines online before going to bed.D.Following the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle.
3. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.It is necessary for people to oversleep.B.Heavy work can lead to oversleeping.
C.It is hard to change people’s sleeping habits.D.Oversleeping sometimes makes us more tired.
4. What is the passage mainly about?
A.Why people need to sleep.B.Why people have sleeping problems.
C.How to have healthy sleep.D.How to wake up in a natural way.

文章大意:这是一篇记叙文。主要讲述了作者从祖父那里学到:享受当前,会更珍惜所得到的。

2 . When I was a kid, my brothers, sisters and I used to have ice cream for dessert. Every day, we would choose which ice cream flavor (风味) to have. Then we would happily eat our ice cream as fast as we could.

Once when I was about 10 or 11, our grandpa came to visit us. Grandpa always had a different view on things. At that time, my sister and I were making bets (打赌) on who could finish our own ice cream first. With a smile, Grandpa said, “Why would you like to finish first? If you eat slowly, the pleasure will last longer. You should have a competition to see who can finish last.” Even now, I always try to taste my ice cream slowly, but of course this is about more than just dessert.

Too often, kids want to get something more, whether more ice cream, more toys, or more friends. We still keep this habit until we grow up. We never develop the skill of treasuring what we have. If we realize this and change the habit, we will have a happier life.

What my grandpa said that day taught me a lot. If you take the chance to enjoy what’s in front of you, the pleasure will last longer. I think the lesson has made my life happier as well. These days, when I want something, I wait as long as I can before having it. Then, when I finally get it, I will treasure it as long as possible. Because I know that no matter what it is, it will be gone one day.

1. What is the correct order according to the passage?
a. Grandpa gave us advice.
b. Our grandpa came to visit us.
c. What my grandpa said that day taught me a lot.
d. Every day, we would choose which ice cream flavor to have.
e. My grandpa found my sister and I were making bets on who could finish our own ice cream first.
A.c-a-d-b-eB.d-b-a-c-eC.d-b-e-a-cD.a-d-b-c-e
2. What can we know from the last paragraph?
A.The writer learns a lot from her grandfather’s advice.
B.The writer knows how to get the chance to be happy.
C.The writer knows nothing will be gone one day.
D.The writer longs for the days when they ate ice cream.
3. What is the best title for the text?
A.Save for the FutureB.Value What You Have
C.Keep Longing for MoreD.Remember My Grandpa

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章主要说明了玻璃蛙虽然不是由玻璃做成的,但它们的皮肤却如玻璃一样透明。本文介绍了一些与玻璃蛙有关的知识。

3 . Glass frogs are not actually made of glass. But their skin is transparent (透明的), just like glass. In fact, the skin on the underside of a glass frog is so clear that you can see what is inside its body. Without using an X-ray machine, you can see the glass frog’s heart and other organs.

The glass frog usually lives high in the trees above rivers. These unusual-looking glass frogs can be difficult to discover in the rainforest, because the clear skin on their fronts and the light green color of their backs often blend in (融入) with the leaves they rest on. Also, they are tiny — just about the size of a coin.

These frogs make up for their small size with an interesting way of catching insects. Scientists believe the glass frog’s back looks like the frog’s eggs. If a fly (苍蝇) flies down for a meal on the frog’s back, it will be caught unexpectedly when the glass frog opens its mouth.

The glass frog’s eggs are protected by the male (雄性的) glass frogs. Male glass frogs are very protective of their eggs. To protect the eggs, a male glass frog will try to scare away any other male frog that gets too close. At first, the male glass frog makes loud noises to warn the other male frog to leave his area. If that does not work, then the glass frogs may fight with each other until one gives up and leaves. These fights can last for thirty minutes.

1. Choose the best sentence to fill in the blank “________” in Paragraph 1.
A.You can’t see anything without light.
B.I don’t like glass frogs because they are too big.
C.You can see the glass frog at any place.
D.Sometimes you can even see blood or food moving through its body.
2. What are the reasons why it is hard to discover the glass frogs in the rainforest?
① They blend in with the leaves they rest on.        ②They are very tiny.
③They move fast.                                             ④They seldom make noises.
A.①②B.②③C.③④D.①④
3. What does Paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A.Where the glass frogs live.B.What size the glass frog is.
C.How the male frogs protect themselves.D.How the eggs of glass frogs are protected.
4. What’s the theme of the passage?
A.CultureB.LanguageC.NatureD.History
