Last Sunday, our school held on a 5-kilometer cross-country running race, that attracted many enthusiastic participants. Actually, all the student in our school attended the activity.
The race started from the school gate and ends at the foot of the South Hill, covering five kilometers all together. The whole course was quite difficulty, especially the part near the mountain, narrow but rough. All the participants spared no efforts finish the race.
This race gave us a opportunity to have a deeper understanding of patience as well as build up our bodies. However, we all think highly of it, and expect more activities like this in the future.

Good morning, everyone. It is my honor to stand here and share with something about traveling. Which I’d like to convey is that to travel is also to learn. Take my journey to Xi’an for example. Previous, I did learn something about the city from books and TV programs. Therefore, I didn’t know what wonderful it was until I was there in person. When traveling, we can feel the surrounding with our own eyes, noses and so on, thus broaden our horizons. The picture taken on the Great Wall is good reminder of my happy days when I stay in Xi’an. So everyone, seize every chance or you will start an amazing journey to learn.

Reading is always my favorite thing. Influencing by my parents, I began reading at a early age. I love reading books of all kind. Over the years I have got a lot of knowledge from books. Beside, books like Robinson Crusoe encourage me overcome difficulties facing me. Reading also relieve me of my loneliness. Sometimes I read at home in our spare time. At school I spend time exchange ideas with other students in the reading club. Knowing that what others read is exciting in the club. Nothing gives me much pleasure than reading.

Today, I was walking to work on a busy street. I passed by blind elderly lady sitting in cold wind. Seen her old face and sightless eyes, I stopped immediately. Then I took out some money, bend down to her level and gently pressed them into her hand. The lady slight nodded her head with appreciations. I felt blessed but moved on. This small interaction helped with me understand the meaning of giving. How a blessing it is to be kindness to those in need.

Dear Tony,
I am glad that you are keen on Chinese idioms. Chinese idioms, mainly consist of four or more Chinese characters, have been appealing to those absorbed in Chinese. As matter of fact, they were an indispensable part of Chinese culture. The benefits of learning it can be listed as following.
First, with a great many of Chinese idioms widely used in our daily life, having a good knowledge of them contribute to better understanding both spoken and written Chinese. Second, they usually possess vivid and profound meanings, making which people try to convey more convincing.
As far as I am concern, I have a preference for the stories behind some Chinese idioms. Not only are they particular interesting, but they also tend to teach some wisdom. I sincerely hope you can learn them well.

On Women’s Day, my father and I planned to give my mother surprise. We did something specially for her. Know that she was always unwilling to buy herself anything, we decided to buy him a perfect gift. Last month, our school launched a campaign which intention was to promote environmental protection. The campaign last for one week. Firstly, there was a photo display to show the seriously pollution caused by human activities. Last summer, I went on the trip to Qingdao, where I stayed for seven days and enjoyed myself. Before leave Qingdao, I went fishing on a beautiful lake.
