Several days ago, my classmates and I visited to the Cincinnati School for the Blind and Deaf. We had party with some of the student there and had a wonderful time. I met a girl at the party. She couldn’t speak or hear, but we “talked” by writing on each other hands. When saying goodbye, she writes on my hand, “Please come here as often as possible.” Many people are concerning about disabled people and give her money. However, I think which we should do is to communicate with them rather than give money. If you want to help disabled people, making friends with them and visit them regularly. Nothing is much important than friendship.

Last Saturday, I went to watch the final of the 4×100-metre relay race in our stadium, where I visited for the first time. The experience left a deep impression to me. I had never been imagined that the atmosphere could be so intense. Everyone went wildly when the runners set off! We all stood up and started cheering and shouting. Held their sticks tightly, the runners ran as fast as they could. The race was over in just one and a half minute. It was Li Chong that first crossed finish line. Many people were on his feet, cheering. It was such wonderful to watch the excited event.

Dear Sir or Madam,
Knowing that our school is selecting some outstanding teacher as Star Teachers, I’m writing to recommend my English teacher Mr. Yuan for you.
Comparing with other teachers, Mr. Yuan is the one which impresses me most. Now I’d like to say some details. First and foremost, there’s no doubt that he has taught English for 30 years, during which he has awarded the title of a model teacher for many times and once won a first prize in the teachers’ speech contest. Additional, it’s obvious that he can always make his lessons lively and interesting. Needless to say, he is not only our good teacher but also our good friend so he is kind to us and always ready to help us. Last but not least, as a teacher, Mr. Yuan encouraged us to think by ourselves whenever he puts forward questions instead of giving answers.
I would be grateful it if you could accept my recommendation.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

John Snow was a well-known doctor in London. Cholera was the most deadly diseases of its day. Neither its cause nor its cure were understood. So many thousands of terrified people died every time when there was an outbreak.
At that time, there were theories explained how cholera killed people. John Snow suspected the second one. As the disease spreaded quickly through the poor neighborhoods, he began to gather the information. He marked on a map the exact places all the dead people had lived. The map gave a valuable clue about the cause of the disease—the water from Broad Street pump seemed to be to blame. However, he found the water came from the polluted river.
With other two cases, John Snow announced for certainty that the polluted water carried the disease and suggested that the source of all water supplies was examined. Finally “King cholera” was defeated.
