Erie raised his daughter Riley alone. One day, Eric noticed a young teenage boy standing in front of a drugstore. He approached him, and found out that the boy wanted to buy medicine for his sick mother, but had no money. The boy cried out, “if I don’t bring home medicine, my mom will die. But I won’t be able to handle it.”

Upon hearing this, Erie didn’t hesitate to pay for the medicine. “I’ll pay for the medicine on his behalf,” he said, handing the pharmacist (药剂师) a couple of bills from his pocket. The boy looked at Erie with grateful eyes, and cried, “Thank you so much. You are heaven-sent.”

“There will always be people willing to help you, son,” Eric told him before handing him two portions of food. “Here, take this to your mom and have a hot meal with her,” he said before letting the boy go.

His daughter Riley saw the whole scene and said, “Dad, we have barely enough money. Why did you pay for the medicine?” “Riley, the good you put out into the world will eventually find its way back to you. Just keep doing good,” Eric told his daughter.

When Riley turned thirty, she needed an operation urgently after being told there was something wrong with her heart. With difficulty breathing, Eric rushed Riley to the hospital in an ambulance. “You’ll be alright, Riley.” he cried. “Don’t worry, Daddy is here. We’ll get through this together,” he promised her.

Eric did try his best to find the money for bis daughter’s operation. He asked all of his friends, but it was still not enough. Therefore, Eric decided to sell their house. It was enough to pay for her operation, but they would be left with nothing, “it’s okay,” he told himself. I will be able to earn money again, but if I lose my daughter, nothing will ever bring her back.”

By the time Erie made it back to the hospital, Riley was in her hospital room, weak and pale. He sat beside her bed and held her hand. “You’ll be okay, my sweet daughter. We’ll soon have the money for the operation,” he promised her.

Baby Blue Tail was a tiny little yellow fish with a blue tail, and that is why his parents named him Baby Blue Tail. Every day, Baby Blue Tail enjoyed playing with his friends and family in the middle of the blue and deep ocean.

One night, one of his friends disappeared. Baby Blue Tail got so worried and scared. The next day, when Baby Blue Tail was sleeping, nine more friends went missing. At this point, Baby Blue Tail got terrified and told his mom.

Baby Blue Tail and his mom decided to stay up all night to see what had happened to Baby Blue Tail’s friends. Suddenly, Baby Blue Tail saw a big fish taking away his dad while he was sleeping. Baby Blue Tail was very sad to find out that this was the big fish taking everyone away.

“Oh no! He might have eaten everyone,” said Baby Blue Tail, while expressing his upset to his mom. In the morning, Baby Blue Tail and his mom decided to explore the ocean more to stop the big fish from taking his family and friends. Baby Blue Tail laid out a plan, and he told his mom that they could hide and follow the big fish. At night, Baby Blue Tail and his mom hid in a coral(珊瑚), and the big fish appeared, but the big fish did not find anyone in the house. After searching for a while, the big fish left.

Baby Blue Tail and his mom followed the big fish. While they were following the big fish, they saw people, on the shore, throwing plastic waste into the ocean. Baby Blue Tail saw a lot of dead fish and other sea creatures. Finally, the big fish led them to a beautiful part of the ocean, where people used eco-friendly bags and cleaned the ocean every week. There were rainbows, happy sea creatures and corals.

Baby Blue Tail whispered and asked his mom, “Who is the big fish?” A voice from behind them said, “Turn around.” When Baby Blue Tail and his mom turned around... IT WAS THE BIG FISH.

The big fish said, “My name is Baby Shelly.”

“You are a good fish,” said Baby Blue Tail excitedly.

Yesterday I was in a bad mood because of losing my job. I tried to find something else to do to make myself feel better. I went shopping for a pair of trainers to replace the old pair I have been wearing for too long. I would have replaced them months ago but I am one of those women who hate shopping. I hate the crowds and the heat in the shops, but mostly I hate the waiting line.

I was happy as I found my trainers very quickly, but my happiness soon disappeared when I found myself in a very long line for the payment.

This line was long and snaking around a corner. I do hate waiting but I find the best way to pass the time is to talk to the person behind me.

So I turned around and told the woman behind me that the line was looking very long and joked that I hoped we could all hang on.

She laughed and agreed. I caught an English accent(口音)as she spoke, so being a person from Liverpool in England myself, I immediately asked her where she was from.

She rewarded me with a sharp look and said, “England. ”

Immediately I realized that I had accidentally offended(冒犯)her—she was black and thought I was referring to her colour. I told her I was from Liverpool and had noticed her English accent.

She laughed then and continued chatting.

The line seemed to disappear slowly as we exchanged some information about our life.

Once upon a time, there was a boy who always enjoyed listening to his mother’s story about the statue (雕像) standing beside their house.

The statue’s name was Miriad, who was the symbol of kindness. People who walked by the statue showed their respect through bowing (鞠躬) in front of Miriad’s statue. It became a tradition in their village that everyman who died due to helping others would be honored as Miriad, and would be remembered by all the people.

One night, the boy asked his mother how Miriad gained his respect from all the people in this village. “He was just a simple man,” his mother said. “He helped people selflessly, thinking others first.” “Well, I can also do that,” the boy proudly told his mother. His mother continued, “That is the reason why people made Miriad a statue, for you child to copy and not to forget.”

One morning, the boy saw a little girl crying under an apple tree. “Why do you cry?” the boy asked. “I was trying to get myself some fruit from this apple tree and suddenly I fell down from it,” the little girl explained. “Let me do it for you,” the boy said. He started to climb up the tree and picked as many apples a she could. After a while, the boy jumped down from the tree and gave all the apples to the little girl.

The little girl thanked the boy for his kindness.

One day, the boy met a homeless man who seemed hungry.

Charles lived a lonely life after his wife passed away. Unfortunately, he lost his son in a car accident months after losing his wife, so he had nobody in his life he could call family.

He was a millionaire businessman before he sold his company to live a life away from chaos. He had a large house and lots of money, but he was lonely and sad.

One summer morning, Charles was reading newspaper in the living room when he heard his neighbor, Mrs. Francis, talking with someone. He went to the front door and opened it to see what was going on. He noticed a well-dressed boy standing in Mrs. Francis’ doorway.

“Please, madam,” the boy begged. “I need the money. I’m not lying.” “But you don’t look like someone who needs to beg for a living! How can I give you money?” replied Mrs. Francis. Charles saw the boy’s head dropped and that his face looked sad. Not wanting to judge the boy without knowing the whole story, Charles asked from his doorstep, “Hey, there! Can I help you?”

The boy raised his head and dashed to Charles’ door. “Yes, sir! I’m George. I’m eight years old. I’m going from door to door asking for donations to pay for my mother’s operation. But your neighbor didn’t believe me. She thought I was skipping school to ask for money. I promise I’ll not waste your money! Can you help me?” he asked sincerely.

“But she was not totally wrong, dear,” Charles said, staring at the kid. “Aren’t you supposed to be in class at this hour?” The boy replied he was spending his summer holidays. After a brief pause, he sighed, “I tried looking for work, but everyone said I’m too young. My mother needs operation two weeks later, so I want to collect money for her. I’m planning to give her the money on her birthday next week so that she can be happy and healthy soon.”

Charles asked, “Well, how about working for me? All you have to do is help me a little around the house and get groceries for me. In return, I’ll pay you. Deal?”

George happily nodded and said, “Deal! Can I start to work today?”

After a week passed, Charles paid a visit to George’s house.

A New Addition to the Family

For the initial ten years of his life, Victor was the prince of the household. As he was an only child, his parents petted him and showered all their love and attention on him. Whatever toys his parents bought, they were always meant for him. Whatever food was in the refrigerator, there was no one to compete with him to polish it off first. Victor could leave his toys or books around the house with complete ease of mind, knowing that there was no one who would get their hands on his belongings and cause any damage.

However, all that was to change overnight when Victor’s parents brought back his new baby sister, Lina, from the hospital. With her rosy cheeks, wide open eyes and angelic smile, Lina caught the hearts of her parents, grandparents and relatives. Everyone focused their attention on the cute bunch of joy. Whenever she cried, her mother or father would rush to her bed. She simply cried because she wanted to be carried. There was little time left for Victor.

Now that Victor’s mother had his baby sister to take care of, she expected Victor himself to do most of the chores he can do. Victor was asked to clean his own room, iron his own school uniform and clean his own shoes. Before Lina’s arrival, he had never lifted a finger to help out with these tasks. The whole family also went out less because it was unhealthy to expose Lina to the bacteria(细菌) being in the outside world too often.

Victor felt neglected by his parents. He felt that they loved Lina more than him. As a result, he tried to attract his parents’ attention by becoming resistant. One evening, Victor’s parents were called up by his teacher because Victor had got into a fight at school. His teacher had noticed Victor’s behaviour and work attitude changing downwards in the past two months. Before that, he had been a model student.

Upon hearing the teacher’s feedback, Victor’s parents got lost in thought.

Victor realized that his parents still cared for him.
