4 . Have you ever gone to a museum or a show and been completely blown away by a piece? If you haven’t, go out and get cultured. I’m a student at the College of Visual and Performing Arts where we create all kinds of art every day.     1     But I don’t think those people truly know the difficulties and struggles in the process of making art.

First of all, we need to be inspired. You may think that’s easy. In fact, anything can serve as a concept of a work of art.     2     Sometimes we will need people, volunteers, bodies to do so and finding willing people to work is hard. Other times we have a clear idea of what we want but we don’t know how to make other people fully understand what we’re trying to get at.

    3     We need a space to be able to be creative and that can be tricky to acquire. Sometimes we need art supplies or certain equipment and costumes and that can cost money. Even if we do acquire what we need, visions change and mistakes happen so we might not end up using the resources.

The process can take weeks, months, and even years to be fully realized. Once completed, we need to share it and find an audience and provide an environment to display our work.     4     What if nobody likes what we created? What if our vision isn’t what we thought though completed?

Creating art is an art in itself. It is really not as easy as many people think.     5     It’s how we express ourselves and how we communicate with the rest of the world.

Facial recognition is a technology that     1     (use) facial features to identify a person. Today, facial recognition is used in a variety of ways,     2    allows you to unlock your phone, go through security at the airport, and buy products at stores.

One of the major     3     (advantage) of facial recognition technology is safety. The police use the technology to uncover criminals or find missing children or seniors. Airports are     4     (gradual) adding facial recognition technology to security checkpoints; the U.S. Department of Homeland Security predicts that it     5    (adopt) on 97 percent of travelers by 2023. When people know they are being watched, they are more likely     6    (obey) rules.

Facial recognition can add conveniences. You will start to be able to check-out at stores without     7     (pull) out money or credit cards - your face will be scanned.

The     8     (big) drawback of facial recognition technology in most people’s opinions is the threat     9     an individual’s privacy. In fact, several cities have considered or will ban real-time facial recognition use, including San Francisco, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and more. Because people don’t want to take     10     risk of revealing personal information to enjoy these benefits.

8 . The aftermath (后果) of an earthquake can be horrible, but it is important that you are attentive and focused after an earthquake happens. Fires, gas leaks, and injuries are all dangers you might face after an earthquake.     1     By assessing the safety of your location and following the directions of local authorities, your chances of surviving the aftermath of an earthquake will be much higher.

Check yourself for injuries.     2     If you’re bleeding, lift your injury up and put pressure on it. If your injury is serious, call for help using a cellphone or try to get rescuers’ attention.

    3     Use a cellphone to call for help if you have one. If you can’t use a phone, try knocking loudly on something nearby until rescuers find you.

Aftershocks are smaller earthquakes which follow the main shock of an earthquake.     4     So you should prepare to move to a safe location, like an open outdoor space or a structurally sound building.

Exit the building and go to a safer place once the shaking has stopped. The structure of the building you’re in may have been weakened by the main earthquake.     5    

9 . Living on the Florida Emerald Coast, people view a hurricane as a common thing. So it is not unusual for a family to have several full gas cans and bottled water stored in their houses all summer.

Though unwilling to evacuate from a hurricane, on September 15,my family was forced to leave our home for my grandfather's house several miles away. We spent the early part of that evening watching the hurricane draw closer on the Weather Channel. Around nine o'clock, a loud sound shook the house, turned over the roof and carried it off. Soon came an indoor rainstorm.

Realizing the damage, my grandfather began to be afraid. The storm had started, but he still ran out into the heavy rain and wind to see how much of the roof was left. We got him back inside. I had never seen him so scared. Mom finally asked him to lie down in his room.

The leak had progressed rapidly. It soon became a race against time to protect what was saved. Some people may think it necessary to save material things, but I hoped to save those items with emotional value, such as the photos. I still feared the storm, but I more feared the influence it brought.

The next morning, it started to clear up. Thankfully, my family weathered the storm, though the same could not be said for the house. Only the wooden beams remained, but inside many of his things were safe. My mom and I had worked tirelessly through the night.

It was late, but we were still unwilling to go to bed. We discussed the rebuilding of the house. Under the beautiful sky, we suggested looking after my grandfather more often in the future. After this disaster, I realized the truth that the hurricane itself was not so terrible if we loved each other.
