Once upon a time, a delightful dog named Ripple shared a home with her owner, Emily, with whom she had formed an unbreakable bond(关系)from the early days of her puppyhood(幼年). Emily was an elderly woman who lived alone and Ripple was her faithful friend, providing her with love and companionship.

Unfortunately, one day, Emily fell ill and had to be immediately transported to the hospital. Ripple was left alone in the house, waiting anxiously for her owner to come back. As the days went by, Ripple grew more and more worried, wondering where her beloved owner had gone and when she would return.

One rainy evening, Ripple heard a car pull up outside the house. Overjoyed at the prospect of Emily’s return, Ripple ran towards the door, barking excitedly. As soon as the door opened, Ripple’s eyes widened at the sight of Emily, who was visibly weak. Overcome with emotion, Ripple’s tail wagged(摇摆)wildly as she leaped towards Emily, showing her affection.

From that moment forward, Ripple became Emily’s faithful companion, never leaving her side for a moment. She would curl up(卷曲)next to Emily’s bed every night, always watching over her. Ripple would dutifully follow Emily around the house, ensuring that she was safe and comfortable. Emily would often say that Ripple was her guardian angel, appointed to watch over her in her time of need.

As Emily’s health declined, Ripple became even more attentive. She would bring Emily her slippers, help her to the bathroom, and even fetch her medications. Emily’s family and friends would often visit her, but it was Ripple who provided her with the most comfort and love.

Regrettably, Emily eventually passed away, leaving Ripple to face a world without her beloved owner. Ripple was very sad without her owner, frequently lying in Emily’s bed, surrounded by her scent(气味), shedding tears. Ripple’s family members did their utmost to comfort her, but her sense of loss and heartbreak remained evident.

5 . Most Chinese people these days know what it is like to have an “English teacher”, since almost all pupils study English from their third year. Usually that first English teacher will be a young and lovely lady in primary school. But my first English teacher is no other than my father. Looking back, I can see that, when I was only a little girl, he created an English environment by providing me with flashcards, fun English- language toys and even dolls which can sing English songs! My interest in English had certainly been awakened (唤起) when I began to learn English at school. Just imagine, he went a step further and asked me to learn New Concept English by myself! I was puzzled and even angry. I could not understand why a father could be so strict with his little girl. All the same, he never gave up and he gently insisted that I follow through with his idea. At first, I read stories with tears and I actually hated them because they were too difficult for me. In the end, I came to love the funny stories and, to be honest, my father was always there with a helping hand. I am sure that my English would never have got so far without his support. And that’s why my father is not only my first English teacher but also my lifelong teacher. He is one who awoke my interest, and who gave me much confidence .
