Warm, clear water, white sand, and nature activities helped this beach rise to the top of our list. North Beach, near St. Petersburg, has a large lagoon (泻湖) that doesn’t get above 3 feet deep. It’s like a natural pool for kids.
Spend the night in the Loews Don CeSar where families can keep busy with movies and toys, books, and DVDs to borrow. There’s a drop-off kids’ club for 4- to 12-year-olds.
Coligny Beach, South Carolina
Coligny stood out for its calm water. And the beach’s hard-packed sand is perfect for kids to build castles or ride. You can rent bikes from a nearby Shore Beach Service stand.
Spend the night in Beach House, which organizes free pool and beachside games. All rooms have a small fridge.
Coronado Central Beach, San Diego
This 2-mile stretch of beach has everything families could want: perfect weather, white sand, and warm, gentle water. But no smoking is allowed on this beach.
Spend the night in the Victorian-style Hotel del Coronado, which offers a kids’ program for 4- to 12-year-olds.
Coquina Beach, Florida

Glenstone Museum

Beginning in 2006 with a single building of indoor art in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., it expands to 300 acres of a sculpture garden. Visitors are led along carefully-landscaped paths, with a selection of artworks strategically placed along the way. The massive flower-covered “Split-Rocker” by Jeff Koons is hard to miss. Making it indoors, you’ll catch pieces by modern sculptors.
Olympic Sculpture Park

Opened by the Seattle Art Museum in 2007 at a former industrial site, this 9-acre park is now the largest green space in the city. Views of the Olympic Mountains provide background for the 20 artworks. Visitors can explore the path and see pieces by modern sculptors, and one of Jaume Plensa’s enormous heads, modeled on a 9-year-old girl.
Sculpture Garden of the National Gallery of Art

3 . The Best Things to Experience in River City
String Thing
Caroline Shaw, who won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for music, has composed many famous contemporary songs. Her lively compositions will be performed in a concert by Richmond's dynamic Rosette String Quartet as part of its So Hot Right Now series. The concert takes place on Monday,(October 25, from 7: 00 pm to 10: 00 pm, at the Hofheimer Building's Dark Room. The Rosettes are Ellen Cockerham Riccio (violin), Treesa Gold (violin), Kimberly Ryan (viola) and Steph Barrett (cello).
Cooking and Comedy
After visiting the River City in 2014, Alton Brown, who is the Bill Nye of the culinary (烹饪的) world and longtime host of shows including Iron Chef America and Good Eats, will return on Thursday, October 28, during his fall tour, Beyond the Eats. The show at Dominion Energy Center's Carpenter Theatre promises a mixture of cooking, comedy and audience interaction.
Opera Man
The Metropolitan Opera's production of Fire Shut up in My Bones marked a historic first as the only opera performed by African American composer Terence Blanchard on that stage earlier this year. The star of that show, Will Liverman, comes to the University of Richmond's Modlin Center at 7: 30 pm on October 28. His performance will include songs by composers Shawn E. Okpebholo, H. Leslie Adams and Damien Sneed, as well as works by Schubert, Loewe, Rachmaninoff, Britten and Bolcolm. Tickets are $10 to $25.
Night of the Picture Show
George Romero's 1968 classic, Night of the Living Dead, will be played at the Byrd Theatre at 6: 00 pm on October 31. Make it a double feature and catch the Yes and Theatrical Co. performance and screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at 10: 00 pm. This event features the theater company's cast accompanied by the Trunk Show Band performing the film's soundtrack live.

Benjasiri Park is the place to be for sculpture lovers, with some of the best examples of Thai sculptures around the park reflecting historical features. Chatuchak Park
Chatuchak Park offers something for everyone at this park. Some may walk or jog along the green tracks line, while others can appreciate nature in the Thai Literature and Herb Garden. Sanam Luang Park

PARKS AND BEACHES
Mitchell Park: It is a dog-friendly spot where kids can play. Families can wander along the waterfront and watch boaters.
Arshamomaque Preserve: Located on the edge of Greenport, the preserve is a place where families can explore—just make sure you keep your dog leashed (拴着). Featuring 126 acres of wetlands and woodland habitats, lookout for an abundance of wildlife.
Orient Beach State Park: About 10 miles east of Greenport, it has a large sandy-yet-rocky beach where peoples it in the sun while others fish. The park is a great place to bird watch.

Skate Park: The park is open, featuring ramps (坡道), a half-pipe and other items on which to trick. Safety gear (用具) is required.
Mini Golf: Golf at Drossos Motel is open to the public daily. The course has 18 holes and features the Jennie’s at Drossos snack bar.

Greenport is a very walkable town, with much of what can be shopped on Front Street.
Goldsmith’s Toys & Electronics: This shop has direct appeal to kids. Walk past and see the rubber ducks in the window—it’s the store’s signature item—but walk inside to find a variety of toys and seasonal fun; it’s an independent toy store that’s been in town for more than 30 years.

Octopush(水中曲棍球) Oxford, York, Aberdeen and Warwick are only some of the universities that offer this rather unusual sport. Anyone who is able to swim can play. It is played by two teams of six players. Everyone wears a mask and carries a small wooden stick. |
Skiing and snowboarding Nearly every university in the UK has a skiing and snowboarding club. For example, Brumski & Board Club of Birmingham University has run for 30 years and has about 500 members. They hold Christmas and Easter ski trips every year and take part in competitions. |
Skateboarding Warwick University is home to the Longboarding Club. A Longboard is two or three feet longer than a usual skateboard and has a wider wheel base. Instead of offering club T-shirts, the Longboarding Club lets members have their personal socks. |

TeenInk magazine offers some of the most thoughtful and creative works finished by teens and has the largest distribution(分配) of any publication of its kind. We have no staff writers or artists; we depend completely on submissions from teenagers nationwide for our content.
We offer teenagers the opportunity to publish their creative works and opinions on the problems that affect their lives. Hundreds of thousands of students have submitted their works to us and we have published the works of more than 55,000 teens since 1989.
The Young Authors Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organisation that supports all TeenInk publications.
