One day, I was taking the walk in my neighbourhood. There was a great many dogs playing around. I noticed a small one which hairs were pure white. It was a smart dog I couldn’t take my eye off. When I was in high school, I had a kind teacher about whom I would never forget. I was not the best when it came to write essays. In a literature class, he waited patient for me to finish my essay. Last summer, I took a part in voluntary work, helping elderly people. I delivered meals to some old people live alone. Nervous and exciting, I knocked on the door of a 90-year-old man on the first day. To my surprise, there is no answer. I kept knocking unless one of his neighbors turned up, saying the old man might have gone outside. Soon the man returned but accepted my meal. My experiences have shown that I can bring joy with old people. Everyone will face the fact when their parents grow older and become dependent on their children. The voluntary works has increased my confidence and I believe I able to help more people.

Yesterday, when I complained with my mom about too little entertainment, she share the story of her youth with me. In the 1980s, neither iPads nor smartphones were invented. Today, I was walking to work on a busy street. I passed by blind elderly lady sitting in cold wind. Seen her old face and sightless eyes, I stopped immediately. Then I took out some money, bend down to her level and gently pressed them into her hand. The lady slight nodded her head with appreciations. I felt blessed but moved on. This small interaction helped with me understand the meaning of giving. How a blessing it is to be kindness to those in need.
