On a sunny day, a shepherd (牧羊人) walked with his two     1    (hunger) sheep along a winding country path. Kobe Bryant is a famous basketball player. His talent can     1     （see） not only on the court （(球 场））,but also in his writing. His book The Wizenard Series: Training Camp came     2     in March.

The story is about the West Bottom Badgers, a youth basketball team. It's made up of five books, with each     3     （focus） on the story of one character: Rain, Twig, Cash, Peno and Lab. 4 . You are never too old to try to make your dreams come true

This could be Mary Moe's motto----the    1    (express)that best represents her spirit. Mary Moe     2       (do) a lot during the past 91 years. For much of that time, she wanted to fly,    3    never had the chance---until now.

Mary Moe may look like    4    average grandmother. But she is not. She just learned how to fly an airplane, a dream she has had    5    she was a little girl.

Growing up, she    6    (encourage）by two American pilots: Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart. They became her inspiration. Lindbergh made the solo nonstop flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927. Five years later, Earhart became the first woman    7    (make）the flight.

5 . A toy animal might not matter much to the average person, but for a child, it could mean the world. When 10-year-old Leon Ashworth’s mom couldn’t afford     1    (buy) him a toy panda he badly wanted, he wrote a     2    (pity)note on the toy’s box begging     3    (shopper) not to buy it until his mom could. What happened next     4    (be)so heartwarming, it would melt you.

The boy, Leon Ashworth ,     5     lives in Liverpool, England with his mom, first saw his beloved ‘Panda’ at an Asda supermarket, the British equivalent of Wal-Mart. They decided to buy it for him.

6 . The other day my daughter and I ate out to celebrate her birthday at the restaurant. The kind waitress met us at the door but mentioned that without making a    1    (reserve), we would wait over an hour    2    we got our order. We stood outside    3    (wonder) what to do next when the owner came out and insisted that we stay! So we went back in. The waitress was right. We waited an hour before my daughter and I    4    (serve). But it was OK because we had tea and enjoyed some great conversations and a lot of laughs. It was a good dining experience in many ways.

She went on to say that she was having a hard time managing school and work and didn’t have many friends.

7 . I was living alone in an apartment and knew no one else living there. It was winter and we had a heavy ice storm—2 to 3     1     (inch) of solid ice covered everything. I never even got those guys’ names, and I never saw them again, but I will never forget how kind and how strong, yet gentle-they were.

8 . Kiyoto Saito is trying to change people’s opinion of agricultural work through his unusual attire(打扮). Whether he’s driving a tractor     1     is standing in the fields, Kiyoto is always wearing an elegant suit.

Kiyoto’s family has been planting rice for around 400 years, but as a teenager he     2    (find) the tradition boring and moved to the city. He returned to his native town two years ago,     3    (determine) to get involved in the family business.
