2 . You may have apologized plenty of times in your life. And there’s a good chance you’ve also uttered the phrase, “I never meant to hurt you.” Stop doing that, says author Caroline Myss.
In a talk, Myss, a spiritual seeker(精神导师), took on the topic of forgiveness and healing, and explained in certain terms why “I never meant to hurt you’’ is never a good apology, no matter who it comes from.
Traditionally, a person always comes up to you and say, “Wow, bummer. I’m sorry I did this, but, you know. I never meant to hurt you. And, hey, can we just call it a day?” Myss says that is never appropriate.
That type of apology won’t sit well with the person on the receiving end. “That whole little thing — I never meant to hurt you—that’s the thing you can’t forgive, ”she says.“It goes right to your soul, that toxic, sick feeling.’’
Instead, Myss says it’s important to approach the conversation differently. Ultimately, it’s about offering more than an apology. It’s about sharing a soul-to-soul confession. “Let’s redo the scene, ’’ Myss says. “The person conies up to you and says like this…I need to tell you something. I consciously knew what 1 was doing. I consciously knew it, and I have to call it something else: It was my mistake. I heard my heart tell me not to do this and I didn’t listen. It did matter to me. And I know that my actions redirected the course of your life. It was conscious. It was a sin, because it was conscious. And how much it hurt you did not stop me. This is not a boo-boo(一时疏忽) . This is not just an apology. I am confessing my soul to you, and I’m asking now for your forgiveness·”
She points out that this is how deeply within the soul apologies are supposed to resonate. “That’s what heals,” she says.

-Mark Twain
You can have something extremely smart, useful or funny to say, but if you say it at an improper time, you could make yourself look foolish.
Throughout history many famous, noteworthy people have taken Mark Twain's words to heart. These wise people knew when to talk and when to keep silent. Many leaders have to learn when to talk and when to keep silent even when it might be difficult to do so. All leaders must choose their words carefully, picking the right time to speak, so that their words can have the greatest impact.
If you learn to develop this skill of knowing when to hold your tongue, you will also become wise, even if people think you are not. Some people, in fact, will underestimate you because they do not know what you are thinking all the time. This can give you an advantage in many situations. When people underestimate you, they do not focus on you, leaving you to make and perform plans without being noticed.
If you think before you speak, you can also improve your listening skills, which is a very important and useful skill to have. Listening is another key trait(特征)for a leader to have, and it is harder to achieve than many people think. First, you have to be quiet, and then you have to listen attentively, with all your attention on what the person is saying to be a good listener. When you learn to stop and think before you speak and when you learn to become a good listener you will be well on your way to becoming a good leader. By being able to listen to the people that work with you and for you, you will be able to make informed decisions.

6 . Sweden and its Nordic neighbors have some of the highest literacy rates (识字率) in the world. The Swedes view equal access to knowledge as important to an individual’s future success. This is true regardless of economic background and, clearly, geographic location.
Sweden has a floating library — the bokbaten — that brings thousands of books to people on dozens of remote islands in the Stockholm archipelago twice a year. Every spring and fall since 1953, the Stockholm Library Service rents a boat for a week, loads it with books, and charts a course for about 23 inhabited (有人居住的) islands.
When the boat pulls in, people climb aboard to return books they borrowed during the last visit and check out the library’s newest offerings. The boat carries about 3,000 books, and people can put in requests ahead of time. The three or four volunteer librarians who take turns working on the ship say that, as you might expect, the latest best-sellers are in high demand. There are picture books for children, popular thrillers, texts about history and science, cookbooks, and audiobooks, etc.
In addition to a library boat, Sweden also has library buses that bring books to people in rural communities. They also develop temporary (临时的) libraries in places such as stores and social gathering spots. The boat starts as a service for fishermen and island workers but expands to serve people who prefer to read hard copies of books over e-books or audiobooks. Since island people can order copies in advance, boxes of books are piled up in the boat waiting to be delivered.
The book boat is of great positive value for children and adults because they can in this way take part in the modern public library. The book boat has an important function as good public relations for the library’s services and has the effect of promoting reading not only in the archipelago but elsewhere.
Even in a nation of book lovers, the future of the floating library remains uncertain. If the Regional Library cuts funding for the boat, the bokbaten will be no more.

7 . How to Be Productive During Difficult Times
When we are struggling, or when we have a hard time focusing, we may turn to others for help. We may even wish we had a hero to help us. Well, today here is some advice for you.
Turn ourselves into our own heroes.
When we make ourselves heroes, we not only gain focus but also a sense of purpose.
Write out our tasks and ideas.
In stories, heroes also have tasks, which they want to finish and ideas, which they see for themselves. So we can write out our tasks and ideas, not just for a project but for our life as well. With clear tasks and ideas, events in our life no longer seem to be separate events.
Have small goals within a larger goal.
As we know, the hero's journey is not a one—time thing. It is a journey we are on in our entire life.
A.Learn from heroes in stories. |

9 . After spending 18 years protecting your children from various dangers on the road and off, you now face the prospect of handing them the car keys. It's time for them to learn how to drive. We can help you mold (塑造)your teens into safe and capable drivers.
Our site contains information on driver licensing requirements for teens as well as ideas to help you-the parents - lay down the ground rules with your young driver before you hand over the car keys. Here you will find information on the most common safety problems novice drivers should avoid. Educate yourself about the consequences of illegal alcohol use, the distracted (分心的)driving, and much more.
Your teen sees a driver's license as a step toward freedom, but you might not be sure your teen is ready for the road. One thing is certain: teens aren't ready to have the same level of driving responsibility as adults. Teen drivers have a higher rate of serious crashes, mainly because of their immaturity lack of skills and experience. They speed, make mistakes, and get distracted easily-especially if their friends are in the car. To help your teen stay safe behind the wheel , all 50 states have a graduated driver licensing (GDL) system that limits high- risk driving situations for new drivers. This approach can reduce your teen's crash risks by as many as 50%.
What can you do? Learn about your state's GDL laws. Familiarizing yourself with the restrictions can better assist you in instructing your kids. You must establish ground rules for your teen driver. Prohibit driving while using the phone or other electronic devices, and require seat belt use at all times. Remind them that it is illegal to drink under 21, and it is illegal to drink and drive. If your child is under 21, his or her blood alcohol concentration (BAC) should always be at 0. 00, not just under 0, 08.
