One day, I was on my way back home while I saw a young man painting a picture on a tree. I felt very surprising, so I went up to see more clear. He told me that he was art student. He spent his free time drawing pictures on trees, hoped to make the city more beautiful. His words encouraged me so much that I was volunteered to help him. He said it took him about one and a half hour to finish a picture. By the time I met him, he has finished ten pictures of his own. After that, they often worked together and became good friends.

Yesterday I was very busy with deliveries and collections so I was determined take today at a slight slower pace. I belonged to a writers’ group and I joined a Zoom call this morning to discuss and write in some flash fiction. Before the call, I was listening to a speech about Loving who I listened to last year and the hosts were discussing how we can love people who comes from a different culture to our own. One host spoke about Native American Initiation Ceremonies in their speech. I had written the flash story earlier but I mentioned Native American ceremonies in the story. So it was good to be reminding of where the idea had come from.

My soccer coach retired in last week. I wanted to do anything special for him at his retirement party. My mum made the better biscuits in the world, so I decide to ask her for help. Mum taught me some basic step of baking. I insisted on doing most of the baking myself. I thought the biscuits were really well. My only mistake was that I dropped some on the floor after I was packing them up.
At a party, my coach, with a biscuit in his mouth, asked surprisingly who made them and joked, “I might have to retire again next year just get some more of these biscuits.”
My favorite picture at the party is of my coach and me enjoy the biscuits with happy laughter!

One day in June, all of sudden, it rained heavily and the raindrops made a wonderful sound. We felt very hot in the classroom that we couldn’t concentrate on schoolwork and instead of were eager to enjoy the cool rain. Sensed that, the teacher simple wrote “sitting and listening” on the blackboard with a smile. I am sitting next to the window, listening to the rain. It seemed to calm me down but reminded me of ancient Chinese poems, who brought me a sense of peace. We should appreciate the small thing in life, like sunsets and rainbows after storms. In this way, we can develop their inner world into an ideal state.
