Only a few days after I arrived in the UK did I realize what changeable the weather was. In Saturday afternoon, my friends and I decided to cook some traditional Chinese food rather than eating out. It was nice and beautiful from beginning when suddenly the clouds gathered above. Then the sun was blocked complete by the thick clouds, following by a heavy rain. But it only rained for about 10 minutes after the sun showed its lovely face again. While they were having dinner, the sun hide behind the clouds once again. It changed from sunshine to light rain for several time in a single day.

I, together with my parents and cousins, were planning to have a fantastic beach day. We’d been looking forward to the beach all week, so you can imagine how disappointing we were when Dad announced, “Today will be a inside day because of the bad weather.” To cheer us, Mom brought out our favorite snacks and all kinds of fruit that he had prepared for the outing. “Why not to arrange a fruit platter?” Mom suggested. We cut the fruit into different shape. Though we didn’t have a clear picture of how it would look like, we simple enjoyed ourselves. We made necessary adjustments, carefully adding or replaced each piece, and finally made it a piece of art.

The best gift I have ever received is a hand-made calendar. It was made up by my best friend Jane, with who I have so much in common. On each page of the calendar, there is the picture of us with some word written by Jane. She either tells me what she feels about our friendship or encourages me try my best and live a happy life. Whenever I look at the calendar, I am touched by something warmly, and my heart is filling with love. This gift is a memory of the wonderful time I spend with Jane in junior high school and I will keep them forever.

This morning, I went to school by a bicycle as usual. As I am listening to my favorite music with a headphone on my head, I didn’t notice a car parked on the roadside. I scratched the car and left a scar on it. Think that I would have classes, I left a note with his name and address to let the driver know what happened. Lately in the afternoon, while we were having a class meeting, our headmaster led in a stranger, that was the car owner. He explained the class the whole story but praised me. My teacher and classmate were impressed and pride of my honesty.

A woman was in a business trip. She stayed in a big and comfort hotel. But every day, she had lots of meetings to attend to, which made her very tiring. One Saturday afternoon, she decided to sunbathe to relax. So she went to the top of the hotel in her swimsuit and lay down on roof.
After about an hour of sunbathing, she heard someone come up to the roof. It is the manager of the hotel. He said, "Excuse me, Miss, but do you mind sunbathe somewhere else?" Visiting friends is one of the most common thing in our daily life. Usually, it is politely to call a friend before your visit, so close friends often drop in on each other without calling. Some people enjoy surprise visits from friends, but many people did not. In the USA, those people don’t like surprise visits may tell his friends to call before they come. This is acceptable because the most people are very busy. Drop in at a busy time can cause problems for the person visiting and the person visited. It’s a good idea to ask a friend if he or she mind your just dropping in without calling. What you aren’t sure whether your friends welcome surprise visits, call first.
