Once upon a time, in a small town located near the edge of a vast forest, two adventurous souls named John and David had long been keen to go deep into the heart of nature. One day, armed with their backpacks, they determined to explore the forest. The villagers had warned them to stick to the main path, cautioning that there could be hunters’ traps elsewhere, but the appeal of the charming forest was too great to resist.
As they confidently ventured deeper into the forest, its beauty unfolded before their eyes. An 11-year-old boy from Texas named Shayden Walker has been struggling to make friends. His mother, Krishna Patterson, described what her son went through as a result of his disabled legs, which kept him from successfully socializing with other children.
One day last week, after struggling to find friends, Walker decided to look around his residential area to see if he could find anybody willing to be his friend. During his search, he went up to a house that belonged to a resident named Brennan Ray and asked for his help.

A Friendship Coming Back
For my fourteenth birthday, my mom offered to take me and several friends to the city near our small town to visit a mall, eat pizza in the food court, and then catch a movie. Afterwards, we would all return to my house for a slumber party (睡衣晚会). It was just the kind of celebration a teenage girl longed for.
On the awaited day, all the friends I’d invited to join me on this birthday trip attended school—except Nora. When it was time to climb aboard the bus and ride together to my home, she still didn’t show up.
I felt confused. Then I felt mad. Why did she tell me she’d come to the party and then break her word without letting me know? By the time we returned to my house, I decided to call Nora.
