If you want to take good care of your eyes and vision (视力), I encourage you to adopt the habit of blinking (眨眼) softly as often as possible. Frequent and gentle blinking is important to keep healthy eyes and good vision because it helps to keep your eyes coated with three beneficial layers (层) of tears.

The first layer of tears lies right up against the whites of your eyes, and provides an even coat of protein-rich moisture (水分) for the second layer to stick to. The middle watery layer helps to wash away foreign dust. It also provides your eyes with minerals, a variety of proteins, and moisture (水汽). The third outer layer of tears is somewhat oily. It serves to prevent the middle watery layer from drying quickly, and smooths your eyes.

If your eyes are not regularly coated with the three layers of tears described above, they will be short of moisture and cleaning, and they will be unnecessarily tired.

One of the reasons why many of us don’t blink as often as we should is that we don’t see frequent blinking in mainstream media. Actors and new presenters are typically trained to blink as infrequently as possible, so when we take in most forms of media, our minds learn that it isn’t normal to blink frequently.

To fully support your eyes and vision, it’s best to blink softly every two to four seconds, which means about fifteen to thirty blinks per minute. By making an effort to softly blink at this rate, over time, your body will turn your efforts into a habit. If you’re thinking that such frequent blinking will make reading a book or viewing a movie uncomfortable, give it a try and you’ll see right away that it doesn’t take away from these experiences at all.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了为解决游客在旅游过程出现睡眠问题的一种旅游形式----睡眠旅游。

【推荐2】Vacationers traditionally like to make use of every second of the day, People rush from site to site, eat all day, and feel tired at last. And when they get to their hotel room at night, they find it hard to sleep. Noisy traffic and flashing city lights aside, many people simply don’t sleep well when they’re away from their own bed. Fortunately, sleep tourism addresses these issues and more.

In order to help them sleep well, special sleep suites (套房) have been thoughtfully designed to offer quiet and darkness. Hotels are investing in artificial intelligence mattresses (床垫) that control climate and have cushions to relieve pressure points. The mattresses can also track sleep statistics and offer vacationers feedback on their sleep patterns.

Some feel that these sleep suites are a result of the problem that many people suffered from a loss of good sleep. “There has been heightened attention to sleep during that time, and likely, because so many people have struggled with this. Now, I think there’s just been a huge shift in our awareness and prioritization on wellness and wellbeing,” said sleep researcher Dr. Robbins.

Sleep suites are a huge advance in tourism and are now found in wellness hotels worldwide. Each offers different ways of helping tour its sleep. Many provide a menu of relaxing teas and a comfortable bed. You can even devote your trip to sleep wellness. Some spa hotels offer a lounger with headphones and mask, and energy healing.

No matter which sleep suite you choose, the goal is to sleep well so you can improve your health and wellbeing. Sinking into a comfortable bed should be the best part of a trip!

3】A recent study conducted by Gavin Sandercock at the University of Essex in the UK and his colleagues shows just one in 20 people aged 18 to 64 in England are meeting England’s strictest weekly strength training guidelines. Strength training is defined as any activities that strengthens muscles or bone, says Sandercock. This can include lifting weights, body weight exercises and fitness plans.

The teams looked at survey data from over 275,000 adults in this age group. Between 2015 and 2017, these people were asked to estimate how much time they spend doing physical activity each week. They wanted to find out what proportion of these adults in England met the UK’s weekly health guidelines, which recommend 150 minutes of moderate activity a week.

The researchers found that on average just 5 percent of these adults in England met the full recommendation, including strength training. They also found that men were more likely to meet all the guidelines as well as younger age groups. “But the strongest effect that we found when we looked at the variables was education,” Sandercock says.

“There are two main reasons why this could be the case,” Sandercock says. “ People who are more educated may be more likely to know what the UK’s recommended health advice is. On the other hand, it could be that strength training——especially lifting weights——often requires access to a gym which costs money. Higher levels of education have been linked to greater wealth,” he says.

“To encourage greater participation in strength training, I believe we need to raise awareness about its multiple benefits. And we need to stress that strength training is relevant to health and fitness across all age groups and not just for young males. Anyway, there’s still a long way to go.” says Anne Tidedmann at the University of Sydney.

1. What does the study show about the adults in England?
A.They lack strength training.B.They attach importance to diet.
C.They watch their weight.D.They have strict fitness plans.
2. What do we know about the UK’s weekly health guidelines?
A.They are aimed at male athletes.B.They have a standard for exercise time.
C.They include some mental activities.D.They only apply to healthy people.
3. Why does Sandercock talk about education?
A.It enriches knowledge on health.B.It makes a person become wealthy.
C.It affects strength training greatly.D.It contributes to one’s wisdom.
4. What can we infer about the work of popularizing strength training?
A.It takes less time.B.It needs great efforts.
C.It makes mo difference.D.It gets wide support.
