Some parents are used to doing almost everything for their children. They see their older children as babies all the time! It can be a very common problem in China, because most parents only have one child in China. Some parents care so much about the safety of their children that they are afraid to let them go anywhere or do anything by themselves. So their children fail to learn social skills and become more dependent (依赖的) on them!

In fact, no children really enjoy being looked after by their parents all the time. No parents would be happy knowing that. Because of too much care, their children don’t know anything about the world. Children need their own time to grow into adults and to learn how to deal with problems. Too much care damages their fun when they are growing up. And when suddenly they can’t depend on their parents, these children will be in a big trouble!

It’s nice that parents show their care to their children. It’s nice that children know that their parents’ care is out of love. And it will be nicer if the children let their parents know how much love they really need and how much love is too much.

According to a new survey, students’ safety has become a big problem. Nearly 50% of students say they are worried about robbery on the way to and from school. Now in main big cities in China, some schools have taught an unusual lesson: self-protection（自卫）. Students like this lesson because there are no exams or boring classes. And they can learn how to save lives and know how to stop danger before it really happens. Chen Haoyu, a teacher at Beijing No. 25 Middle School, gives young students advice on how to deal with danger.

★If you are robbed, keep calm

If you can not cry for help or run away. Give the robber（强盗）your money. Try to remember what the robber looks like and tell the police later.

★If you are in a traffic accident

If a car hits you, you should remember the car number. If it is a bicycle, try to call your parents before you let the rider go. This is because you don’t know how seriously you are hurt.

★If it is raining hard and there is lighting（闪电）

Don’t stay in high places and stay away from trees.

★When there is a fire

Get away as fast as you can. Put wet things on your body and try to find an exit. Do not take the lift.

★If someone is drowning（溺水）

If you can’t swim, don’t get into the water. Cry out for help. Remember that danger is never as far away as you think. Take care of yourself at all time!

In 1987, a small company named Huawei was started in Shenzhen. After more than 30 years of development, the company has now beaten Apple and become the world’s second-largest maker of smart phones behind Korea’s Samsung. It has also become the world’s largest supplier (供应商) of 5G.

But recently, Huawei faced some difficulties. The U.S. government ordered a ban (禁令) on its sales in America. American officials said Huawei gave information (that it collected) to the Chinese government. At the same time, the U.S. government planned to stop selling parts and services to Huawei, which was believed that Huawei’s business would be hurt.

“We have never received such a request from the Chinese government and we have never tried to get into other systems (系统) to collect information.” Ren Zhengfei, Huawei’s founder and president said. “The ban from the U.S. would have little effect on our company. Huawei has enough ability to deal with the problems.” Ren added.

In an interview several years ago, Ren Zhengfei said, “I started Huawei with only £4,000 at the beginning, but now it has become a $100 billion company. The experience was not as romantic (浪漫的) as you imagine.”

Facing the ban of the U.S., Huawei is growing. Huawei’s smart phone sales around the world rose 50 percent compared to a year earlier in the first three months of 2019. At the same time, sales from both Samsung and Apple fell. So far, Huawei has grown into the world’s largest telecommunications equipment (电信设备) supplier, selling in 170 countries! It may beat Samsung as the largest smart phone maker in the near future.

I am a middle school student. My name is Lucy. I have many rules at home. For example, I have to stay at home on school nights and do my homework. 1. I can’t watch TV until I finish my homework. I can’t go to my friends’ homes to study with them. My mother says we will talk instead of doing homework, but I don’t think so. Yes, sometimes we talk, but we mainly study.
