How would you feel if someone decided to take away your park? Well that’s what’s happening in my community. There’s a park that some people want to turn into a golf course. Let me tell you why I think it’s a bad idea.

First, a park is meant to be for the whole community. Not everyone likes golf, so not everyone will get to use the park. This isn’t fair. A community park should have open spaces for everyone to use.

Second, to make way for the golf course, lots of playground equipment（设施）will have to be moved or knocked down, which is a waste of time and money. It is also a waste of perfectly good equipment. The swings, for example, will probably just end up as litter.

Third, what about giving young people something to do? Not all kids are crazy about golf. At the moment, the park has a skating place and a playground. These attract lots of kids from the community. If you turn the park into a golf course, these kids won’t have anywhere to go and they won’t have anything to do. This means that they will stay at home and turn on a video game rather than get some exercise. It also means that they might be out on the street causing trouble. Wouldn’t it be better to give them something to do at the park?

Finally, golf is expensive. Building a golf course and maintaining（维护）it costs a lot of money. Who is going to pay to maintain the golf course? What about those people who can’t afford to join a golf club? That means that the golf course will only be available to people with lots of money.

Turning our park into a golf course is a bad idea. I suggest we have a community meeting before plans go any further.

Have you ever taken a flight from Beijing Daxing International Airport（BDIA）? After opening on Sept.25, 2019, BDIA drew attention not just for its design, but also for its many high-tech facilities（设计）and services.

The new airport, in the southern most part of Beijing, is made up of a main terminal（航站楼）, a supporting service building and a parking lot, they cover an area of about 1.4 million square metres, which is equal to 63 Tian’an men Squares.

The new airport is expected to carry 45 million passengers trips a year by 2022 and 72 million by 2025, China Daily reported. With more runways planned, the new airport will finally carry more than 100 million passengers each year. That’s around the total population of the UK and Canada.

The airport has many new technologies that make it smarter and more efficient. It is the world’s first airport with a double-deck departure and arrival（双进双出）design for its terminal building. “It’s more efficient for passengers than any other large airport terminal of the same size in the world,” Guo Yanchi, the chief engineer in charge of construction said.

According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China, 86 percent of check-ins can be done through self-service check-in kiosks（值机一体机）and 76 percent of luggage can be checked quickly with the help of self-service bag-drop machines. Other technologies, such as a facial recognition（人脸识别）system, allow passengers to have a quicker check-in and boarding process.

The airport will also use a robot-operated parking system. Drivers just need to park their cars in given areas. Robots will then carry them to an empty space. When collecting their cars, drivers simply need to scan a parking ticket to find out where to collect their cars.

When the sky suddenly turns dark and the wind is strong, watch out! A dangerous storm might be coming. Storms are scary. Watch for flashes of lightning. Listen for thunder. If nature sends these warnings, don’t wait for rain. Act right away to keep safe.

At the first flash of lightning, quickly get into a building or a car. Do not go into a shed for protection.

It is not closed like a building, so it is not safe.

Even after you are indoors, be careful. It is not smart to go near doors and windows. They can blow in or break. A room with no windows is the safest place to be.

Do not wash your hands during a storm. Do not use anything that runs on electricity either. Water and electrical lines are like roads for lightning. Even if you really want to play computer games, don’t! It is better to be bored than to risk getting hurt. Try reading a book instead. Reading is more fun than playing computer games.

If you can’t get to somewhere safe, stay out in the open. You may feel safe under a tree, but that is not a good place to be. Lighting is pulling toward tall poles and trees. Stay down in the open space and cover your ears to protect them. Loud thunder can damage your hearing.

Lightning does not strike people very often. It is not likely that you will ever see that happen. If you do, call 120. Only trained emergency workers should care for a person who has been hit by lightning.

If you follow these rules, you should stay safe during a storm.
