Allison Johnson Wrote 3 hours ago Book Reviews of the Week Little and Largeis a book about two animals. One is a small ant, the other is a big pig. They look very different, but in fact they're good friends and get along really well. This is a fun book, and all young children should enjoy it. When We Were Youngis a book about teenagers and their lives. Sound interesting? No, I think this book is very boring. In fact, I don't feel like finishing it. I don't like any of the characters. Glove Storyis a great love story. It starts when a man finds a woman's glove on a train. He wants to find out whose glove it is. Then he meets a few interesting people on the train as he does so. A New Youisn't a story book. It was written by a doctor, and it tells people how they can take good care of their health. There is some useful advice here about how to eat right, how to exercise, and more. It's a great book to have around. I don't agree with you about△, I think that it is really good. I am 16 years old, and I like reading books about people who are my age. Many of the things in this story are the same as what I deal with in my life. Maybe you should read to the end. Workout clothes? Check. Water bottle? Check. Breakfast? Um …It's something that has been hotly debated by early morning gym-goers for years. And now a study has finally found out whether to exercise before or after breakfast.
Researchers analyzed the energy spending of 12 healthy, active men aged 20 to 26. Each of them completed three different tests: eating a breakfast of oats(燕麦) and milk and then resting, eating the same breakfast 2 hours before cycling for 1 hour, and doing the same 1 hour of exercise without having breakfast. The study showed that when the men didn't have breakfast, they had a greater calorie deficit(不足) throughout the day of about 150 calories on average, showing that fast exercise is the best for weight loss.
“These results suggest that for healthy young men, a short-term energy deficit may be more easily achieved if they exercise without breakfast,” the study's authors said.
Here's how it works: When you do fast exercise, your body doesn't have ready energy from food, so it draws from other sources, like stored body fat, which makes your exercise more effective at burning fat and helping you lose weight. Also, exercising in a fast state keeps your insulin(胰岛素) level low, allowing your body to produce more growth hormone(荷尔蒙激素), which also burns fat.
When insulin is increased - as is the case after you eat-your body will be in a state of wanting to store fat, not burn it. It doesn't matter whether you exercise like a mad man after a meal, because you won't be able to burn body fat until insulin levels drop.

I want to share with you a story from 28 years ago. My dad was a used car salesman. Every Thursday night, he would head off to Shreveport, LA for an auction (拍卖会). Most of the time, I drove a car over there for him so he could sell it at the auction.
One day I was riding with my dad when he noticed a hitch-hiker(搭便车的人)with a backpack. Without hesitation, he pulled the car over and offered him a ride. Dad asked him his name, and proceeded (继续) to talk to him about all sorts of things. Dad asked him where he was going. The hitch-hiker told him that he was heading for the west. I can't recall why but he told Dad a lot of things that had occurred (发生)to him and that persuaded him to make that decision. He talked about the tragic (悲惨的) events that occurred to him several years before. He was in low spirits, but I could see that the hitch-hiker,s attitude(态度)was changing as someone was really listening to him.
We drove 45 minutes before the hitch-hiker got off. We pulled over and Dad told him to keep his head up and things would start looking up for him soon. He reached into his pocket and handed the hitch-hiker a twenty-dollar bill. The guy smiled. He nearly lit up right there on the cold, dark highway.
We drove on and my dad did not say a single thing. I was still completely amazed by what I had just witnessed. I was always told by everyone never to pick up a hitch -hiker and yet my dad did it every single time he saw one. While reflecting upon (反思)that story I came to understand that just one single kind act could change someone's life, and I am sure that my father’s deed made that poor man’s day.
