【推荐3】This winter holiday, my family and I went to Beihai, Guangxi, to go beachcombing (赶海). This is when people go to the beach to look for seafood and other things from the sea.

The entrance (入口) to the beach was next to a farmer’s home.     1     You just pay 10 yuan and you can get shovels (铲子), baskets and so on.

2     Down the stairs was a long and muddy path, and there were many trees on both sides. It was a sunny day. The crabs (螃蟹) all came out of their holes (洞).     3     I tried to catch one. I walked quietly and softly, but when I was close enough to catch them, soon, the crabs went back into their holes and disappeared. Later I learned how to catch them.

4     I was glad that my basket was half-full of crabs. When we saw some fishermen going home, their baskets were full of sandworms (沙虫). Though it was quite awful to me, it was valuable (珍贵的) for them.     5
