It was vary cold and night was coming. They both knew they wouldn’t live through the night if they didn’t go down the mountain before darkness came.

    2     “Look.” she said, “I have two good legs, and you have two good arms. Together, that makes one healthy body.”

They tied themselves together and the man was on the woman’s back. Slowly, they climbed down, little by little.     3     They had to stop every minute or so, but the man was counting on (指望) the woman’s strong legs and the woman was counting on the strength (力量) in the man’s arms to keep them from falling.

When they finally reached the foot of the mountain hours later, they were found and sent to the hospital by the local people.     4    

They both learned a good lesson that day. A good team isn’t made up of people who can all do the same thing.    5     By using their own strength. they went down the mountain safely.

Sometimes in life, we must depend on another person’s strengths to make up for our weakness. Isn’t it in good that we’re all not the same?

【推荐3】One day we went to pick up our grandson Mark at his school. It was a beautiful spring day, so we went to the garden.

We noticed how sad Mark was. He said, “There is nothing special about me. Well, I am smaller than my elder brother and I am bigger than my younger brother.” I knew he felt that he, the middle son, was not getting the same attention.

We walked a little farther into the woods when Mark asked me if we could throw rocks into the brook (小溪) to see which one would go the farthest.

“OК,” I said.

Mark said, “I am going to throw the biggest rock, because I know it will go the farthest.” Mark picked up the biggest rock he could find and threw it. Although it made a very big splash (飞溅的水), it didn’t go very far. Mark thought for a minute and said, “I am going to throw a small rock instead.” He picked up a small rock and threw it, but it didn’t go very far because it was too light.

I thought this was a very good opportunity to teach. I said, “Why don’t you pick up a medium-sized rock and see what happens?”

Mark picked up a medium-sized rock and threw it. Mark said, “Look, the medium-sized rock went the farthest!”

I smiled, “You see, Mark, you are like the medium-sized rock. In this situation the small rock was too light, the big rock was too heavy, but the medium-sized rock was just right.”

“So, I am special?”

“Yes, Mark. Everyone and everything is special and has a special purpose, especially you.”

I don’t like Monday because I have to go back to school again after the weekend. Tuesday is not so bad. I usually play ping-pong with a friend of mine after school. You know, I am in the school ping-pong club. I don’t need to go home early that day. On Wednesday evening I don’t go out. I stay at home and do my homework. I like Thursday because next day is Friday. I always go out on Friday—maybe to the cinema. I like to watch different kinds of movies. I love the weekend. On Saturdays I stay in bed until (直到) lunchtime, and I sometimes go to the shops in the afternoon. In the evening, we go to a music club. Then on Sundays I go to my friend’s house or she comes to mine. I usually visit my grandmother for an hour in the afternoon. Then the weekend is over and it’s Monday…and I feel bad again!

【推荐3】A new Metro train for Metro Line 6 has arrived at Changzhen Depot(车库) in Guangming District, marking the start of tests for the operation of Line 6, which will be put into use in June 2020.

Metro Line 6 has a major line in Phase I and an extension(延长) line in Phase II. Phase I runs 37 kilometers from Shenzhen North Station to Songgang Station, covering Bao’an, Longhua and Guangming districts. It has 20 stations, including six stations interchanging(换乘) with lines 4, 5, 11 and 13. With holding at least 2,502 passengers, the six-carriage train was designed to run at 100 kilometers per hour.

The extension line starts at Shenzhen North Station and runs southward to Shenzhen Science Museum. The 11.77-km extension line has seven stations, including five interchange stations with lines 1, 3, 7 and 9.

In another development, Metro Line 9’s extension line is expected to open before the end of the year. Once it is put into operation, a trip between Qianhai and Wenjin in Luohu District will take 44 minutes. The 10.8-km extension line is a major rail linking(连接) Qianhai, Nanyou and Shenzhen Technology Park with Luohu and Futian districts. It starts at Hongshuwan South Station and ends at Qianwan in Qianhai with 10 stations, including five interchange stations with lines 5, 11, 12, 13 and 15.
