Mark: I went to Shanghai with my parents. I wanted to visit some museums, but my parents wanted to go shopping. I didn’t like going shopping. So I stayed in the hotel and watched TV all day. It was really a boring trip.

In July, Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Galactic, and Jeff Bezos, the founder of space company Blue Origin, flew into space aboard spacecraft (航天器) developed by their companies.
When explaining the importance of space travel, Branson told Daily Mail that many people are not “fully educated as to what space does for Earth”. He said, “we need more rocket ships going into space because they can help us to watch things like climate change.” But some people have different opinions.
They think it is part of the so-called “billionaire space race”, which offers what’s seen by some as “joyrides (兜风)” for the super-rich. According to Forbes, one open seat on the Blue Origin rocket sold for $28 million (181 million yuan) at an auction (拍卖会).
So, with the sky-high prices, should common people give up their dream of space travel? Maybe not. US flight engineer Bobak Ferdowsi said that we are at the point at which space tourism is only for the super-rich, but that doesn’t mean it will be like that forever. He thinks that the price will come down. Maybe in 10 to 15 years, it’s a decision between do I buy a new car, or do I go to space? We should invest (投资) in a future that allows us to live somewhere else.

In the evening, we come back to the tent. We build a big fire because it can keep the insects away. We sit around the fire and talk. We may tell interesting stories or we may sing songs. At night we lie down on the grass. We can look up at the stars. It is a busy day, so we try to go to sleep early. Everything is dark. Everything is quiet. One night, the ground was all wet. John came into the stable (马厩) and called, “Wake up, Beauty!”
He put my saddle (马鞍) and bridle (缰绳) on and rode up to the front door of the house. Squire Gordon was there.
“John,” he said, “Mrs Gordon is very ill. Ride to the doctor’s and give him this note.”
“Now, Beauty, do your best,” said John.
I went as fast as possible.
When we arrived at Dr White’s house, John told him, “Mrs. Gordon is very ill. Squire Gordon thinks she is going to die. Please go to see her.” “Yes,” said the doctor, “but my son has my horse. Can I have yours?” he asked.
The doctor was heavier than John, and not such a good rider. But I did my best and went as fast as possible. When we arrived, Squire Gordon was at the door. The doctor went into the house with him, and Joe led me to the stable. I was glad to be home.
My legs were shaking, and I was very wet. Joe was young and he forgot to put a warm blanket on me. Then he gave me cold water to drink. Soon all my body began to shake, and I felt very cold.
A long time later, John came back. He covered me with two or three warm blankets, and ran to the house for some hot water. He gave me some warm food, and then I think I went to sleep.
Over and over again, John said to himself, “Stupid (愚蠢的) boy! Stupid boy!”
I was now very sick, and John was nursing me night and day.
“Good Beauty,” The Squire said one day. “You saved Mrs Gordon’s life.”
John said, “Black Beauty went so fast. He seemed to know what was wrong.”

Disneyland has always been the dream vacation for kids throughout the world. However, Shanghai Disneyland has recently caught people’s attention through a lawsuit(官司).
The suit was brought by a college student Wang, who is from East China University of Political Science and Law. She refused after being told to either throw away the snacks she had brought in the backpack or eat them up. Wang argued with the park security and then made phone calls to the police and to official hot lines like 12345 and 12315, however, none worked. In order to get into the park, she gave up the snacks, which were worth 46.3 yuan.
Wang brought the case to the People’s Court Pudong New Area, where the theme park is located. The case was heard on April 23. Shanghai Disneyland replied in August with its “no outside food” policy and said that the rule is “consistent(一致) with many other theme parks across China” and “guests are welcome to enjoy their own food and drinks outside the park”.
This is not the first time that Disney has been accused. In June last year, a lawyer Jun accused Shanghai Disneyland of overpriced food in the park. The next month, Liu Demin, a father accused the park of charging his ten-year-old son a full fare ticket instead of half price.
Disney has owned 6 theme park resorts all over the world. Three parks in America and France do not have such rules as “no outside food” policy, while the three in China and Japan, as Asian countries, don’t allow tourists to take in outside food. In addition, customers are not informed about the rule when they book park tickets on the computer. No tips are listed on the official website of Disney. People can only get to know the certain rule at the end of the page when they buy tickets through smart phones.

Big data can have different kinds of information from many sources, such as information that comes from schools, social media sites, companies and governments. One set of data can have people’s names and addresses. Another set can have what they like, where they go to school, and how much time they spend on the computer.
Big data can be used in many ways. The government uses it to understand how many people travel on buses or trains. This information is then used to make bus or train systems better. Some schools use big data to understand which children may need extra help in class. The teacher can then give certain students more help or support so those students can succeed in school. Companies use big data, too. It helps them understand who buys their products. For example, one company uses weather data to see when people eat the most ice cream.
Big data can be used for good reasons. Some hospitals use big data to predict (预测) if a baby who is born too early will get sick. The hospital can then take extra steps to take care of that baby so he, she does not get sick. Big data can also be used for bad reasons. It can be used to predict which kinds of people are likely to break the law or hurt others, even if they have not done anything wrong.
How can big data be used for good and bad things? It is because the computer programs used to look at big data and understand it are written by people. People think a certain way. Because they think a certain way, they build a model of those ideas. These ideas are then used to look at the data. Sometimes, these ideas are helpful for people or businesses. Other times, bad ideas can cause problems for certain groups of people.
