1 . One day, a hunter went hunting with his dog. He saw a rabbit running out of a hole not far in front and quickly raised his gun to shoot. The rabbit was hurt. It ran away in fear. The hunter ordered his dog to catch it. The well-trained dog began to run after the rabbit, running very fast and full of confidence to catch it.
However, the dog was surprisingly left behind. The rabbit ran so fast that it seemed not to have been hurt at all. Gradually, the dog couldn’t see the rabbit. At last, when the dog returned empty-handed, the hunter was very angry and blamed it, “How useless! Unable to catch an injured rabbit! No supper for you.” Feeling sad, the dog tried to explain for itself, “Though I didn’t catch it, I had done my best.”
When the rabbit got home, all the other rabbits were surprised at its luck. They asked, “How did you run away from the dog running after you? It’s unbelievable!”
The scared rabbit answered, “The dog would only be blamed for not catching me at most, so all it did was to do its best. The situation is completely different for me. I would surely lose my life if I was caught. I had to go all out (竭尽全力)!”

At first she only went for six months, but she really liked it and agreed to stay longer, so we all went to live with her. We had a great time, but last year my parents decided that they wanted to return to the UK. When we were packing, we had a problem—there were too many things to pack! We’d been there so long that we had lots of things we wanted to take back with us—actually, all the things we bought during our stay in the USA.
So mum and dad went to a shipping (船运) company and arranged (安排) to take everything back in one of those big containers that you see on ships. The company packed everything into it: The table and sofas, the TV, desks, my mother’s favorite Chinese plates, even all the carpets (地毯)! Our whole house was inside that big green metal box.
We flew back to the UK and waited for the container to arrive. About ten weeks later we were having breakfast one morning when a big truck arrived outside our house. On the back was a big green metal box. We were so excited. The men opened the container and started to take out our things. But to our surprise, they weren’t our things.
