3 . Friends are very important in our everyday life. Everyone needs friends. You will feel lonely if you have no friends.

Everyone likes to make friends. If you have friends, you can help each other. It is nice to have a friend to talk, laugh and do things together. Certainly, sometimes you need to be alone. For example, when you need to have a good rest, you don’t want people to disturb you. You don’t always want people around. But most of the time, you need friends in your lives. Sometimes your friends move away. You can’t see them for a long time. You feel very sad. When you miss them very much, you had better call them or write to them. You can also make new friends. No two people in the world are just the same. Friends sometimes don’t get on well with each other. That doesn’t mean that they no longer like each other. Most of the time they will make it up and become friends again.

If you have many friends, you will live longer. Studies show people with friends live longer than those without friends. Why? Friends can make you feel happy. Being happy helps you stay well. If someone cares about you, you will take better care of yourself. These show the importance of making friends.

4 . Think about a world without insects. It might sound nice at first. There would be no annoying bugs or flies in your room. But in fact, this could be really bad news.

The number of insects has dropped a lot in recent years, according to British biologist Dave Goulson. “In the 27 years from 1989 to 2016, the number of insects fell by 75 percent, ” Goulson wrote.

Scientists say the main reason for this is the use of pesticides(农药). They destroy the places that insects live in. What would happen without insects? It’s almost impossible to predict, but the results would be far-reaching. We need insects to pollinate(授粉) crops. They also break down dead plants and animals and turn them into new useful things. We need them to keep the soil healthy and do much more. Without insects, many animals would have nothing to eat. They would go hungry and die. The ecosystem would be not balance.

The first step to stop this is to let more people understand “the values of the natural world, both for what it does for us and for its own sake, ” Goulson said. “The best place to start is with our children. We should encourage environmental awareness from an early age.”

6 . We do a survey(调查) on how students get to school in our school. Here are the results（结果）.

There are 2,616 students in our school. About 56% students live in the center of our city. So they go to school by school bus. The buses bring them to school in the morning and take them home in the afternoon. They have lunch at school.

About 18% students ride their bikes to school. Because they do not live far form school. At noon they often have lunch at school and do homework in the classrooms.

Some students live in the countryside (乡下) or in other cities (城市). They take the train to school, or their parents drive them there. They usually live in the school on school days. It’s about 16% . They can get free healthy breakfast at school.

A small number of students walk to school. They live near the school. It’s about 10%. They usually go back home for lunch.

7 . This is a street crossing. There are red and green lights at each corner. Drivers must watch the lights carefully.

When there is a green light, the cars may go. When there is a red light, the cars must stop. They must wait until the red light changes to green. Then they can go on. Sometimes the cars want to make a right turn or a left turn. They can make a right turn when the light is green or red. But they must wait until the green light is shining if they want to turn left.

Some people are color-blind（色盲）. They can not tell the difference（不同）between the red and green lights. These people must not drive, or there will be accidents. We must keep our streets safe.

White is the color of ice and snow. “Bing Dwen Dwen” likes ice sports very much and is good at them. That’s why it is the mascot of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

Do you think the red mascot looks like a lantern? The lantern’s name is “Shuey Rhon Rhon”. When the Chinese New Year comes, people always make or buy red lanterns. Red is the colour of hope and good luck, so people think their dreams will come true in the new year. “Shuey Rhon Rhon” can give players hope and help them do well in the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympic Games（残奥会）.

Many people in different countries like the two mascots very much, and they show their love for them on the Internet. People think the two Olympic mascots will bring joy to those who take part in and watch the Olympic Winter Games.
