1 . There are many fun things at our school. This month is November. In November, we have a basketball game and a tug-of-war (拔河比赛) on the school playground. They are exciting. In the middle of this month, we have a book sale in the school library. November the twentieth is the day for a school trip. We’re going to Wumeng Grassland with the teachers. On the last day of this month, there is only a reading activity. On that day we can enjoy different kinds of culture (文化). It is really wonderful. Next month, there is only an art festival. Students often display (展示) their pictures during the art festival.

Now cities are full of cars. Some families even have two or more cars. Parking (停车) is a serious problem, and it causes the traffic around the cities. Something will have to be done to change them. What will the cars of tomorrow be like?

Little cars may some day take the place of today’s big cars. If everyone drives little cars in the future, there will be less air pollution. There will be more space for parking cars in cities, and the streets will be less crowded. Three little cars can park in the space now needed for a car of the usual size. The little cars will cost less to own and to drive. Driving will be safer, too. What’s more, these little cars can go about 65 kilometers an hour.

Little cars in the future will be fine for getting around a city, but they will not be suitable for long trips. If big cars are still used along with the small ones, two sets of roads will be needed in the future. Some roads will be used for the big and fast cars, and other roads will be needed for the small ones.

Nowadays people carry out all kinds of leisure activities. Travelling is one of people’s favorite leisure activities. People usually travel in their spare time. Some like to travel abroad. Some like to travel around the country. To be safe, what should we do when travelling? Here are some suggestions.

Before Leaving

Choose the right food, fruits and drinks. Before you prepare the food, fruits and drinks, the first thing you need to think about is how long you will travel with the food, fruits and drinks. If you take a long trip, you should bring food such as bread, fruit juice and some fruit. They are not easy to go bad. If you are on a short trip, you can bring some fish, meat, eggs, milk and vegetables. Also, you have to prepare umbrellas and medicine and so on. It is necessary to take some medicine with you. It can be used when you get sick or have other problems. You need to prepare comfortable shoes and hats if you plan to do lots of walking or climbing during your trip.

While Travelling

Be sure not to eat dirty food or bad fruit. If you eat dirty food and bad fruit, you may get sick.

Have enough time to have a rest during your trip. If you are too tired, you may feel uncomfortable.

Running water is not safe. Remember to drink boiled water and always clean the cover of the bottle.

Keep food in good condition. If you take hot food, you should try to keep it hot. If you need to keep cold food, you can put cold food into a box with ice. When you arrive, put cold food in the fridge.

Many people like the theater. It has the biggest screens and the most comfortable seats, and the workers always do their best to help you. But the tickets are more expensive than any other theater.

Easy Mall

I always go shopping here because it’s the closest to my home. People can buy the cheapest things. But there is a bad thing. The assistants here aren’t friendly. They always ask you to buy things you don’t need at all.

People’s Park

It’s the best place to go to on weekends. There are beautiful trees and flowers. The most important thing is that it is free for visitors. However, sometimes it’s kind of crowded because of too many people.

Sensing

Movement

A robot needs to be able to move around its environment. It can move on wheels, walk on legs or be driven by small engines (发动机). A robot can move either the whole body or just parts of it.

Energy

A robot needs to be able to power itself. Some robots might power itself with sunlight, some might with electricity, while others with the battery (电池). The way your robot gets its energy will depend on what your robot needs to do.

Intelligence

A robot needs some kinds of “smarts”. A programmer is the person who gives the robot its “smarts”. The robot will have to have a certain way to receive the program so that it knows what it is to do.

10 . Swimming is a very popular game in the world. Many people like swimming in summer, and in the other three seasons too. They think water makes them feel cool and swimming makes them keep healthy. But sometimes it’s also not safe if you don’t know how to keep safe when swimming.

If you swim in a wrong place, it may not be safe. A lot of people die (死) when they are enjoying themselves in the water, and most of them are students. Now some people are not careful in swimming. They often think they can swim very well, so nothing will happen to them in water.

If you go swimming in summer, remembering the following rules will be very useful. Don’t get into water when you are by yourself. If there is a “No swimming” sign, don’t get into water. If you remember these, swimming will be safe and enjoyable.
