3 . Hello, I’m Lin Tao. This is my school. It’s a big and beautiful school. There is a big playground. The gym (体育馆) is next to the playground. In front of the gym, there are science labs. Behind the gym, there is a library. So we can see the gym is between (在……之间）the science labs and the library. In the library, there are many books. Look! This is our teaching building, and there are 48 classrooms in it. In my class, there are 56 students. On the right (在……右边) of the teaching building, there is a dining hall, and we often have lunch there. Teachers offices are in front of our teaching building.

Teach the rules as you would have a common lesson. It should be your first lesson. Discuss each rule, explain the idea behind it, and ask for examples of how it could be broken.Tell your students that rules help make everyone’s time in school more enjoyable, and use examples to explain this. The rules can also be posted as a reminder(提醒) and each student is advised to take a copy of the rules home.

6 . Oct.16 is World Food Day. The UN started the day in 1979 to tell people not to waste (浪费) food and fight hunger (饥饿).

According to the UN, there are more than 1,000 million hungry people in the world.

Many children go to sleep hungry, and 15 million of them die of (死于) hunger each year.

There are some reasons for this. First, there are droughts (干旱) and floods (洪水). Also, there are more and more people in the world. Another big reason is food waste. Most people don’t realize how much food they throw away (扔) every day. Sometimes we cook too much, or we don’t use it before it goes bad. On average (平均来看), a person throws away 510 kg of food every year. Too much food is wasted.

So think twice next time you want to throw away food. By cutting down on food waste, we could help put food on the empty plates of some hungry children. Only order (订餐) as much food as you can eat at a restaurant. If you can’t eat all you order, take it home. Think of what food you have at home. Don’t buy too much. Don’t cook too much.

7 . Different colors have different meanings.

Black is the color of power. It has the meaning of submission (服从). It is popular in fashion because it makes people look thinner.

White is the color for brides (新娘).White is considered as a summer color. White is popular in fashion because it is light and goes with everything.

Red is a hot and strong color. It can make the heart beat faster. It is also the color of love. Red clothes can make people look heavier. And red things can get noticed. Americans often use it to express heat. They may say they are red hot about something unfair. When they are red hot, they are very angry about something.

The color of the sky and the ocean, blue, is one of the most popular colors. It is often used in bedrooms. Blue can also be cold and make people feel sad.

Green means nature. It’s natural for trees and grass. It is the most comfortable color on the eyes and can improve vision (视觉). It is a calming color. Hospitals often use green because it relaxes patients there.

Yellow is the most difficult color for the eyes to take in. Yellow is sunshine. It is a warm color like red. On the one hand, it is the color of happiness and joy. On the other hand, it means fear and dishonest behavior.
