文章大意:本文围绕“狗是色盲吗?”这个话题展开,介绍了狗的视力特点。

1 . You may have ever heard someone say that dogs are color-blind. But is this true?

A dog’s eyes have many similarities with human eyes. Just like us, dogs have retinas (视网膜). The retina is an important light-sensing structure. Dogs also have cone cells (视锥细胞) and rod cells (视杆细胞) on their retinas. The cone cells allow dogs to perceive (感知) color and see things in detail, while the rod cells help them see things in the dark and notice movement.

Most humans have three kinds of cone cells: blue, red and green. They allow us to tell the difference between all the different colors. Dogs, on the other hand, have only two kinds of cone cells. One kind is blue, and the other lies somewhere between red and green. Therefore, dogs are unable to tell orange, red and green. They can only see things in yellow, blue, grey, brown, white and black. In other words, the vision (视力) of dogs is similar to that of a red-green color-blind human. Although they have fewer kinds of cone cells, dogs have more rod cells than humans. This allows them to see more clearly in the dark and notice movement more exactly than us. For example, in the dark a dog may see a small mouse moving in the distance that we might never be able to spot.

While it may be true that our lovely animal friends see fewer colors, they can still see better than us in many other ways!

1. What’s the main idea of the second paragraph?   ________
A.The fact that dogs have more cone cells than humans.
B.The reasons why dogs can see clearly in the dark.
C.The similarities between dogs’ eyes and human eyes.
D.How the rod cells help dogs see the world in the dark.
2. Which color can’t a dog see?   ________
①black②orange③blue④yellow
⑤green⑥brown⑦white⑧grey⑨red
A.①③⑤B.④⑥⑧
C.②⑤⑨D.⑤⑦⑨
3. What does the underlined word “spot” in Paragraph 3 mean in Chinese?   ________
A.表现B.参加
C.隐藏D.看见
4. What’s the structure of the passage? P= Paragraph   ________

5. What is the text mainly about?   ________

Motuo lies in the south of the Himalayas in Tibet. It is known as the “Natural Museum of Tibet”. It is home to all kinds of mountains, rivers, waterfalls, plants and animals. Its special geographic location (地理位置) makes it a beautiful place. It was one of the hardest places to reach and was the last city in China without a highway.

The construction (施工) of the first highway to Motuo started in the 1960s. However, it was not completed until over 50 years later. In 2014, the construction of its second highway—the Paimo Highway started. In October 2022, the construction of the main body of the highway was completed.

They are great engineering projects. In this area, earthquakes and heavy rains happened very often. There could be falling rocks or even landslides (滑坡). People must build many walls and nets to protect the two highways. Another challenge was the snow. Plenty of snow sometimes destroyed rocks and roads. As a result, the construction of the highways to Motuo was stopped several times. To solve this problem, people built a tunnel (隧道) that goes through the mountain area.

The two highways stand for the Chinese spirit of “never giving up”. They are ways to connect Motuo to the outside world and show how China cares about people in the far areas.

1. Motuo is in the north of the Himalayas in Tibet.
________________________
2. People started to build the first highway to Motuo in 2014.

5 . Sometimes people come into your life and you know at once that they are sure to be there. They serve you on purpose, teach you a lesson or help you find out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be: your classmates, neighbors, teachers, long-lost friends or even a real stranger. But you know that every moment they influence your life in some serious ways.

Sometimes things happen to you. They may seem terrible, painful and unfair at first. But later you get to know that without overcoming those difficulties, you would have never got to know your further ability and strength. Everything happens for a reason and nothing happens by chance or with good or bad luck.

6 . Have you ever heard of the term “children of the stars”? It’s a special name for children with autism (自闭症). April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day. It was started by the United Nations to help people know more about autism and offer better care and support to those who have it.

Autism affects how a person grows and learns. It usually starts to show in the first three years of life. The official name for this condition is “autism spectrum disorder (自闭症谱系障碍).”

Doctors use a handbook called DSM-5 to diagnose (诊断) autism. It talks about two main autism signs: problems with talking and being with others and doing the same things over and over again.

文章大意:本文主要介绍了水在中国文化中所起的作用。

7 . March 22 is World Water Day. Believed to be the source (源头) of all life, water plays a great role in the beginning of Chinese civilization (文明) and has inspired wise ideas in Chinese philosophy (哲学).

Chinese civilization is one of the world’s ancient river civilizations. It began thousands of years ago along the Yellow and Yangtze rivers, linking the culture to water from its beginning.

However, the way people and water get along has two sides. Water is highly important for life and growing things, but if we can’t control it, it can cause big problems. Knowing the strong power of water, Chinese people have always tried to use it in the best way possible. For example, Yu, the first ruler of the Xia Dynasty (朝代), controlled floods by changing and digging the waterways so that the water could easily go into the sea.

The Dujiangyan irrigation (灌溉) system in Sichuan was cleverly built. It makes full use of the natural features of the area without harming the environment.

Water is also given philosophical meanings to educate Chinese people and rule the country. According to Xunzi, Confucius (孔子) believed water had qualities such as justice and courage. He once said that: “He who is wise loves water; he who is virtuous loves mountains.” So, Confucianism suggests that people should learn from water and train their sense of morality (道德感). Inspired by water, Laozi gave birth to the idea of “overcoming hardness with softness and non-action”. These ideas later inspired rulers to follow the rules of nature and respect the will of the people.
