2 . There are many clubs in our school. Let me tell you about some of them.

What kinds of buildings will we live in in the future? You might find the answer in the Philippines (菲律宾).

As we all know, the rainbow has seven colours. We all like it. The country will build a unique building called the “Rainbow Tree”. We can’t find such kind of building anywhere else. It is 115 metres high and has 32 stories (层). This building is made of wood.

The building’s name comes from a local tree in the Philippines. It is the rainbow eucalyptus (桉树). The bark (树皮) of the tree has many different colours, yellow, green, orange and purple.

Roof (屋顶):       It is full of solar panels (太阳能板). They can make clean energy.

Floors 9—31:       Apartments (房间) and “sky farms” are here. The farm will grow fruits and vegetables.

Floors 7—8:       A swimming pool and a gym are here.

Floors 3—6:       There is space for electric cars.

Floor 2:             Offices are here.

Floor 1:              There are offices, a lobby (大厅) and a restaurant.

Basement (地下室):   It is for parking.

The whole building is covered with 30, 000 plants and trees. They will take in carbon dioxide (二氧化碳) from the air and turn it into oxygen (氧气).

Inside the building

It looks crowded from the outside of the building. In fact, it is wide inside. We can live in the building comfortably.

Do you know, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”? Everyone wants to be healthy, but not all of us have healthy eating habits. What’s your favorite food? I like eating hamburgers and ice-cream very much. But eating too much of it may make me sick (生病). I like cola, too. But cola is bad for our health.

Cola is sweet, because it has sugar (糖) in it. Too much sugar can let you get fat. Drinking one glass of cola each day can make you get fifteen pounds (磅) each year. And because the sugar in cola can make you feel full, you can’t eat much healthy food, such as fruit, vegetables and rice. And cola is bad for your teeth and bones (骨头).

Drink water, please. Water is very important to our body. It helps us to keep healthy. We can get water from drink and food, especially (特别是) from fruit and vegetables. But it’s better to drink water. If you don’t like plain (清淡的) water, you can put a little 100% fruit juice into it.

5 . How will (将会) the weather be in the future? Some people say they can forecast the weather from animals. If birds are flying high (高飞) in the sky (天空), there will be a nice day. When they sit in trees or stay close together, bad weather is on the way. Ants (蚂蚁) often build (建造) their homes on the steep (陡峭的) side just before the rain comes. Cats like to clean their ears before the rain. Chickens make a lot of noise (发出大量噪音) and run here and there when the rain is coming. Frogs (青蛙) will stay (停留) in the water and make a lot of noise, too. But on a nice day, they are quiet and jump out of the water. Turtles (海龟) often look for (寻找) higher (更高的) ground and cows (奶牛) like to lie down (躺下) when the rain is on the way.

6 . It’s December now. It’s snowing and the weather is really cold in the north of China. You can see many children playing with snow. Some of them are making snowmen. Some are skating on the river because it’s so cold that the water in the river freezes (结冰). It’s a white world. How beautiful!

Is it winter in Australia? No. We have different seasons in a year. In Australia, it’s summer now and the weather is hot. Many people are swimming in the sea. They are having a good time. Jim and his friends are playing soccer near the beach. The sunny weather is really cool for them. They want to swim after playing soccer.

7 . In our country different (不同的) places have different weather. In Heilongjiang, the weather is always very cold in winter and hot in summer. But in Hainan, the weather is very warm in winter and also very hot in summer. Kunming is a city in Yunnan. It is a spring city. It is warm all the time in Kunming.

In London, the weather changes very often. You can see a sunny day in the morning, and then a rainy or a cloudy day one or two hours later. So people often talk about weather in London. They often talk to you, “if (如果) you don’t like the weather, it doesn’t matter. It will change in a minute.”

Now people can do many things about the weather. People can get more information about the weather change. When it is very dry in spring or summer, people can make rain. It’s called man-made weather. We wish we can do more about the weather one day.

8 . Hello, everyone! I’m Frank. I’m a middle school student in No. 2 Middle School. Do you want to know my school life? Let me tell you.

I go to school from Monday to Friday. We have four classes in the morning and two in the afternoon. We do many things after class. On Monday afternoon we have sports. On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, some of us have art class. My favorite subject is art. On Wednesday and Friday afternoons, we talk to each other(互相) in English at the English Corner(英语角). On Saturdays and Sundays, I don’t go to school! 4. 我经常和朋友打篮球。

9 . Halloween（万圣节前夕）is an autumn holiday that American celebrate every year. It means “holy（神圣的）evening”, and it comes every October 31st, the evening before All Saints’ Day（万圣节）. However, it’s not really a church holiday, it is a holiday for children.

Every autumn, when the vegetables are ready to eat, children pick large orange pumpkins（南瓜）. Then they cut faces in the pumpkins and put lights inside. It looks like there is a person looking out of the pumpkin!

The children also put on strange masks（面具）and frightening clothes every Halloween. Some children paint their faces to look like monsters（怪物）. They carry boxes for UNICEF（联合国儿童基金会）. They ask for money to help poor children all around the world. Of course, every time they help UNICEF, they usually receive a treat（款待）for themselves, too.
