There are many kinds of pollution on the earth: such as air pollution, land (土地) pollution and ①w________ pollution. What should we do to save the earth?

First, everyone should help to keep the air clean. Polluted air is bad for our physical health. So we must stop people and factories from polluting the air.

Second, we should not make too much rubbish. It needs more areas, so there will not be enough space for people to live. The land will then be polluted and fewer plants can grow.

Third, we should keep the sea and rivers clean. 鱼不能在污染的水里存活, and it may be ②i________ for us to enjoy so much seafood or swim happily in the sea in the future.

To make the earth a better place, everyone should learn to love our planet from now on. And everyone should play a part in saving the earth.

2 . Why do people cry? Scientists say the body produces（产生）tears（眼泪）because it needs them. One kind of tears is for the eye, and the other is for the heart. They both work as cleaners. If something else like dust（灰尘）gets into your eye, tears also come into the eye to clean it out. If you are hurt by something, your strong feelings produce some poisonous chemicals（毒素）in your body, and at the same time, tears come out with them. If tears don’t help clean out these poisonous chemicals, they will do harm to the heart.

In the United States, men have heart problems more often than women do. Doctors say heart problems have something to do with the pressure（压力）of living and working now. Perhaps men have more of these illnesses because they do not cry enough. They need to cry more.

In fact, you can find many ways of reducing（减少）the pressure to keep fit. Crying is a natural（自然的）and physical（身体的）one.

If you are travelling in Hong Kong, I think you can eat in a Chinese restaurant or go to McDonald’s or Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) to have fast food. When you come into a Chinese restaurant, you first sit down at the table. The waiters will bring you a menu soon. They usually ask, “What would you like to have?” You give your order. Then they begin to cook. It often takes some time to cook the dishes. After you have all your food, you will find your meal is always dear.

But to eat in a fast food restaurant, things are quite different. You just stand in a line in front of a counter (柜台). On the counter you will see pictures of a lot of food and drinks such as rice, hamburger, potato, cabbage, meat, hot dog, cake. You can choose any of them right away. After you give your order, people behind the counter get your food for you quickly, usually in less than three minutes. They give you your food on a plate, or in a paper bag or a box. You pay for it before you eat. And you can eat just there or take it away.

Now people like to go to fast food restaurant because to eat there is cheap and can save time. This is why fast food is becoming more and more popular in Hong Kong.

What’s the most enjoyable school activity among American students? The answer is the school dance. Most American high schools have two dances during the year, one in winter and the other in spring. The students like the school dance because it is a good chance for them to meet new friends and learn from each other. At the dance, most schools make some strict rules to help create a healthy and enjoyable evening for all students. Only the students under 21 years are allowed in most schools. Some schools will even give the students a safety check before they come into the dance area. Some schools ask their students to keep a standing position (姿势) when they are dancing. That means the students can’t lean. You’d better not break the rules and enjoy yourself at the dance.

Have you ever seen snow? Many people in the world have not. Some countries never have snow, and some have only a little on the tops of very high mountains. In the north of England, there is quite a lot of snow every winter. But in the south of England, there is usually little.

When a student from a warm country comes to England in autumn for the first time, he feels cold at first. There are often dark clouds grey sky and cold rain in England in autumn, and students from warm countries do not like this.

But snow is different. Though it’s cold, it is also beautiful. Perhaps after several dark mornings, the student wakes up one day, and there is a lot of light in his room. He thinks “Is it so late?” and jumps out of his bed. But no, it is not very late. He looks out of the window and there is the snow everywhere. The light of his room comes from clean, beautiful snow.

All around the world, people drink tea. But tea doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone. In different countries people have very different ideas about drinking tea.                           

In China, for example, tea is always served when people get together. The Chinese drink it at any time of the day at homes or in tea houses. They prefer their tea plain, with nothing else in it.

Another tea-drinking country is England. In England, the late afternoon is “tea time”. Almost everyone has a cup of tea then. The English usually make tea in a teapot and drink it with cream and sugar. They also eat cakes, cookies and little sandwiches at tea time.

In the United States people drink tea mostly for breakfast or after meals. Americans usually use tea bags to make their tea. Tea bags are faster and easier than making tea in teapot. Sometimes they drink tea from cans, like soda.
