_Garden City Daily Monday, 18, March, 20XX Air Quality(质量) and Health By Albert Cheng Every day, the weather reports show us the air pollution index(指数). It is a number. It tells us how dirty the air is. The index was 98 on Monday and it went up to 108 yesterday. Last weekend, the index climbed between 115 and 118. “We breathe in bad air every minute,” said Mr. Wang, head of Green World. Breathing in dirty air is bad for us. The dirty air can make people sick. It can also make people have lung and heart problems. “It’s dangerous and we have to stop making the air dirty,” Mr. Wang said. The smoke from cars, factories all give out dirty things. The rain and the wind carry these around and so people breathe in bad air everywhere. The best way to make the air cleaner is to stop using things that give out dirty smoke. |

The only thing better than reading a good book is reading it with others. In a book club, a group of people choose a book that everyone will read individually and then discuss together. There are no rules to starting a book club, and the plan might well change, depending on the groups. It's good to think ahead about how you'd like the book club to run. Think of 8 to 12 others (people around your age) who you'd like to be part of your book club. Perhaps encourage your friends to invite people whom they know well but you haven't met. A book club can help you make friends. Having a topic can make the club feel more focused. Finally make sure you read the book before the meeting, and come prepared with questions to ask and things to talk about. | Want to dive into stories with friends and share your thoughts? ●________ A schedule is a good way to make sure everyone gets a chance to choose the book. Alternatively, you could provide a selection of books and ask everyone to vote for what they want to read next. ●What do we talk about? Some questions are especially good for sparking discussion about a book. Try these: if you could give the book a different ending, what would it be? What do you think the main character looked like? What do you think will happen next? ●Where do we meet now? To help ensure social distancing, It's best to meet up online. With an adult's help, you can set up a video call between book club members. You can then take part from your cosy reading corner and enjoy yourself. |

One day, I’m on my way to work. Then I saw a little girl carrying a small Cambridge schoolbag. Businessmen(商人) in Britain make the bag for students. It can hold a lot of things, such as textbooks, pens, snacks and water! So it is very popular among students in the UK.
My first bag was a green cloth bag. It was a present from my mum. My mum made it for me by herself. It wasn’t that pretty, but strong. At that time I was short, so my mum made the rope shorter. After eating all the meals prepared by my mum, I ran to school with my classmates. At that time, this schoolbag was so light. When I jumped, it jumped. All things in this bag had a collision(碰撞). They gave out many sounds all the way along. At that time I was so happy.
As I grew older, my green schoolbag became heavier and older. The mouth of the bag was opened, and it came to an end. My mum bought me another bag. The bag was big and pretty. I was happy to go out every day with the new bag. The long trip to school seemed quite close. That year I was 12 years old. Though my first schoolbag wasn't made in the UK, it was still a real Cambridge schoolbag in my mind.

10 . Do you want to live a happier, less stressful(有压力的) life? Try laughing for no reason at all. That’s how millions of people start their day at Laughter(笑声) Clubs around the world and many doctors now think that having a good laugh might be one of the best ways to stay healthy.
The first Laughter Club was started in Mumbai, India, in 1995 by Dr. Madan Kataria.“Young children laugh about 300 times a day. Adults laugh between 7 and 15 times a day,” says Dr. Kataria. “Everyone is naturally good at laughing — it’s the common language. We want people to feel happy with their lives.” There are now more than 500 Laughter Clubs in India and over 1,300 in the world.
Many doctors are also interested in the effects(效果) of laughter on our health. According to a 5-year study at the UCLA School of Medicine in California, with laughing there is less stress in the body. Laughter improves our health against illness by about 40%.
So what happens at a Laughter Club? I went along to my nearest club in South London to find out. I was quite nervous at the beginning of the class, to be honest, I wasn’t interested in laughing with a group of strangers, and I was worried about looking silly. Our laughter teacher told us to clap our hands and say “ho ho ho, ha ha ha” while looking at each other. However, our bodies can’t tell the difference between real laughter and unreal laughter, so they still produce the same healthy effects.
Surprisingly, it works! After ten minutes everybody in the room was laughing for real and some people just couldn’t stop! At the end of the class I was surprised by how relaxed and comfortable I felt. So if you’re under stress, then start laughing. You might be very pleased with the results.
