1 . In primary schools and middle schools, students will have at least 1 labor class every week. If students show interest in it, they can have 2 labor classes every week. They need to learn how to do housework, such as doing some cleaning and cooking food. According to the Ministry of Education, there is a new plan for students in China. The plan has 3 kinds of tasks: everyday chores, productive labor (生产劳动) and service.
Primary school students in first and second grades need to do some cleaning, like washing vegetables, peeling fruit and learning to raise one or two kinds of plants or small animals. It sounds interesting. Third and fourth graders should clean their classrooms, wash their clothes and shoes, and know how to make cold dishes. Fifth and sixth graders should learn the skill of cooking two or three common dishes. It seems a little difficult.
For middle school students, they are encouraged to cook three or four dishes by themselves, learn one or two kinds of traditional skills and experience one or two kinds of new technologies, modern service or voluntary work. Students can be independent and learn to help others through these activities.
Students in primary schools and middle schools have different kinds of classes about housework. They can learn some useful knowledge from labor classes. When they get home, they can also use the knowledge to help their parents with housework. Schools should also use different ways to help parents know the importance of labor education. And it is important to help parents make housework lists to improve students’ abilities. The labor classes catch people’s attention. A lot of parents think it is a good idea to help their children to have a better understanding about daily life.
