Robots can help to build cars, and they do simple jobs over and over again. For example, a robot called Ippeed just looked like a snake. People can use Ippeed to help them look     2     people in an earthquake. When the buildings fell down with people inside, Ippeed could sense the people under the buildings. He would probably bring the rescuers (救援人员) there to save the people.

What     3     helpful robot it was! It seemed that for the robots, nothing is impossible.

Another kind of robot was kid-caring robots. They just looked like human. They can sing many     4     and dance with music. These robots were used to     5       good care of kids. Shenzhou 13 manned spacecraft landed successfully on April 16, 2022. Three Chinese astronauts, Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping, Ye Guangfu came back to the Earth. They s    1     in space for six months. It is the eighth time for Chinese to visit space after Yang Liwei went as the first Chinese 18 years ago. These special “v    2    ” took fantastic photos in space, just like taking trips there.

Can common people go to visit space like them? The answer is “yes”. On September 15, 2021, Space X sent four common people into space. The four spent three days in space. In July, 2021, 70-year-old British billionaire (亿万富翁) Richard Branson and 57-year-old American billionaire Jeff Bezos, both flew into space. But some think these trips are for the super r    3    . With the sky-high prices, most common people should give up their space dreams. However, US flight engineer Bobak Ferdowsi believes the price will come d    4    . Maybe in 10 to 15 years, it will be a choice between “Do I buy a new car or do I go to space?”

Even if we can’t have a space trip now, we had a science class from space. The woman astronaut Wang Yaping, the space teacher, gave us such a l    5     just as she did eight years ago. That was great fun, wasn’t it?

We will also be able to e    6     a space movie. A Russian movie team lived on the International Space Station from Oct 5 to 16 to film the movie Challenge. It’s the first time a movie was made in space. Do you look forward to seeing the wonderful film?

文章大意:本文主要讲述了Goldie Nejat发明照顾老人的机器人的历程。
4 . 阅读下面短文,在空白处填入适当的单词,单词的第一个字母已给出。

When Goldie Nejat began developing robots in 2005, she spent much of her time knocking on doors to let people know how her robots w    1     , but few showed interest. “But now, it’s different.” says Nejat, “People calling from around the world ask when my robots are going to be r    2    .” Nejat’s robots are made to meet a growing n    3    : care-giving for the old. The population(人口) of the people over age 80 will be 426 million in 2050, three times l    4     than that now.

Such robots could be especially useful for patients with Alzheimer’s disease(阿兹海默症). They can help with everyday activities from preparing food to telling patients to take m    5    .

Some w    6     that care-giving robots might cut down human communication and make more humans lose their jobs. “But they are made to help humans not to take the p    7     of them.” says Brian Scassellati. He tested robots with different patients, and found that daily communication with robots can help children with autism spectrum disorder(自闭障碍症) i    8     social skills.

As the field grows, scientists try to u    9     human-robot relationships better. Are robots useful because they don’t have f    10     and don’t give opinions? “One thing is clear,” Scassellati says, “robots help people a lot.”

On Dec 9, three Chinese astronauts who are working aboard the Tiangong Space Station, gave a lecture above Earth and showed millions of students their life there. They also did some fun s    1     experiments. Let’s take a look at some of them.

Use it or lose it

The human body grows with the pull of Earth’s gravity (重力). But in space, our bones and muscles don’t need to s    2     our body’s weight. This will cause bone and muscle loss. It is said that astronauts can lose up to 20 percent of their muscles after just a couple of weeks. That is dangerous for astronauts because they will be too w    3     to work.

Astronauts have different ways to prevent this. During the lecture, Zhai introduced a special uniform Ye was wearing. It’s called a “penguin suit”. It can keep their muscles strong.

Wang also showed students how she walked on a treadmill (跑步机) and rode a bicycle. Astronauts usually e    4     with these tools every day to keep their body strong.

Space water is different

During another experiment, Wang made a water film (膜). Then she added more water drops onto the film to make it a water ball. But this can n    5     happen on Earth. Why?

We need to first u    6     the surface tension (表面张力) of water. Surface tension is like a “skin” of water. The “skin” is there because water molecules (分子) are drawn to each other. One example on the Earth is that some bugs (昆虫) can “walk on water”. Most of the time, gravity is too strong and it breaks the “skin”. But with zero gravity in space, the “skin” stays much stronger and the water ball will not b    7    .

Space water is different in many other ways from that on Earth. For example, water will not flow downward if you try to pour it into a cup. If astronauts cry, the tears will not fall down. They have to wipe them away!

6 . Fifty years ago, China launched (发射) its first satellite (人造卫星), Dongfanghong 1. To mark its 50th anniversary, China announced (宣布) the name for its Mars (火星) planetary exploration (探测) program on April 24.

The mission (任务), Tianwen (天问), g    1    its name from a long poem Tianwen written by Qu Yuan, a famous p    2    of the Warring States Period. In the poem, Qu raised a s    3    of questions about the sky, stars, natural myths and the real world, showing his doubts on traditional ideas and his pursuit (追求) of truth.

China has made great progress in space exploration. In 1970, China launched its first man-made Earth satellite, becoming the f    4    country in the world to launch man-made satellites independently (独立地) after the Soviet Union, the USA, France and Japan. O    5    the past few years, China’s missions, including the Shenzhou and Change’s series were designed to explore outer space.

This time, the Tianwen series will c    6    out the first Mars exploration mission in 2020. Experts consider it the start of China’s exploration of Mars.

Tianwen represents (体现) Chinese people’s p    7    of truth, the country’s cultural inheritance (继承) to explore nature and the universe, as w    8    as the unending explorations in science and technology.

Indeed, with the name’s deep roots (根源) in Chinese traditional culture (文化), it has been widely accepted among the p    9    . Tianwen shows the determination (决心) and perseverance (坚持) of Chinese people to move f    10    into deep space.

The big house was built     4     (complete) from robot-made materials. It used 60% less cement(水泥)than a man-made house. There are 35 parts in the house, but some     5       (wise) robots built each one in 60 to 90 minutes. It means     6     the robots built the full house in just 48 hours.

It is not the first time for robots     7     (build) houses. The Chinese used 3D printers to build 10 houses in a day in 2014. And also     8     created a building the next year. Last year,     9     (Italian) built a house in just 48 hours.

Scientists say one day they could send robots to build houses on     10     moon. We are curious about how we're building for the future.

There are a lot of things in our schoolbags, i    3     pencils, rulers, books and so on. None of them grow in the field. People make them in factories. They look common today, but hundreds of years ago no one knew about them. Who invented them? Where were they invented? We aren't sure. However, we should thank the inventors. Their inventions are so important to us. We couldn't e    4    such a wonderful life without their inventions.

Some of the inventions have changed not only our life but also the w    5    world, such as the telephone, the TV and the computer. We use them every day, but most of us don't know the names of the inventors. Should we remember the inventors? We can remember so many movie stars and pop stars. Why don't we pay more attention to the scientists and inventors? We should look on them as stars in our eyes!
