Since I became a teacher in a university, I have been studying people’s behaviors. Yesterday I     1     to give a talk about kindness in my daughter’s school. At first, I gave a small talk about the     2     of kindness. Then I gave them a task—I told them     3     a small story about an act of kindness they did before and how that made them feel. Then I would choose     4     one and share it with all the people the next week.

After school, I waited for my daughter at the school gate. I saw some     5     walking by and I hoped they would tell me whether they liked the talk or not. However, they didn’t say     6    .

Then a little boy came to me and said, “You know, I enjoyed the talk today.” “Then are you going to write a lovely story?” I asked. The boy said     7     “I’m not good at writing,” So I     8     that I would be glad if he could just write a word or two about an act of kindness.

“Sure. I     9     a try.” said he and left hurriedly. He didn’t have time to talk to me because his friends     10     for him, but in my heart it was a beautiful act of kindness. In fact, his behavior made me very happy.

At the Tianjin Eco-City School, the high technology makes learning a fun experience. In aerospace (航天) classes, students use VR glasses to learn about what’s inside a rocket and how it is launched (发射) in a computer game. Also, in swimming classes, by wearing smart earphones, children can get real-time commands from the coach under the water. It helps improve the quality of training.

For PE classes, Yuwen School in Wuhu, Anhui, has used self-testing tools with AI technology for activities. Students can get voice reports and results on how they did right after each exercise. They can also see which parts of their exercise need improvement.

Apart from learning, students can also enjoy meals made by smart canteens (食堂). To meet the different needs of students, the canteen offers over 400 dishes, with six to seven choices for each meal. Parents and students can choose their favorite before meals online. And they use facial recognition technology to pick up their meal. It helps the school plan and prepare meals cutting down on food waste.

6 . Ways to make you stick to the classes

In fact, at some point in your school life, you’re going to hate a class for some reason or another. The following tips may be helpful.

8 . Many kids think they are too common. They think they are not the prettiest or the smartest. But in fact, they just don’t know     1     special they are.

Growing up means understanding what you can do for the world. When you are young, you don’t see that. But when you get a little     2    , you may know that just by being yourself, you do offer something to other people. Maybe you aren’t the best, but that doesn’t make you “not special”.

Think about your friends. Write     3     some things that you like about them. Think about why you are friends. You are going to know that although they aren’t the smartest or the prettiest or the most talented, they are great in     4     own way. And they feel just the same as you!

In fact, it is great to be the best at something, but it’s OK     5     you can’t be the best. Make sure live your life carefully and try hard. Then you can make your dream come true.

9 . Who is the most famous artist in the world? If not Leonardo da Vinci, it might be Pablo Picasso. Picasso was one of the most famous artists of the 20th century.

Born in Spain, Picasso showed his talent at an early age.     1     The neighbors all exclaimed that he was a genius (天才). However, this “genius” was not an excellent student. When he listened to the class, he either dreamed aimlessly or looked at the trees and birds outside the window.

As a bad student, Picasso’s detention (关禁闭) in school has become very common. There are only benches and empty walls in the detention room, but Picasso is very happy.     2     He first learned painting from his father, who was an art teacher.     3     He also liked to try out new ideas. With his father’s support, Picasso was immersed in the world of imagination every day.

    4     One of his most famous periods was his Cubist period (立体派时期). Cubism is when an artist paints things, like a bottle, from many different angles (角度) all in the same picture. So you see the front, the back and the sides of the bottle all at the same time.     5    

This new way of painting surprised the art world in the 20th century. Picasso has become an idol (偶像) to many artists nowadays. He has helped us see the world in new ways.
