文章大意:本文是说明文。文章主要介绍了一种新的运动方式——绿色运动,不同于在使用健身房的健身设施,更强调与大自然的接触,表明其利弊。

1 . Green exercise is a term used to describe any type of physical exercise that takes place in a natural environment rather than in a health club or gym.     1    . Instead, it relies on the use of natural means of taking part in activities that improve strength and endurance with as little reliance on equipment as possible.

2    . For example, some consider a truly natural exercise experience requires that the individual wear clothing only made from natural fibers. Others consider barefoot running or walking with a big arena to be more desirable than running or walking with shoes.

A slightly different approach to green exercise puts more stress on the fresh air, sunshine and involvement with the natural world, rather than the equipment or clothing used during the exercise.     3    . Similarly, climbing a mountain using standard equipment and protective clothing would also be considered a green exercise.

Many consider green exercise helps to reconnect human beings with the natural world. The interaction with nature helps to lower people's blood pressure, refresh their mind, and actually improve their self-esteem.     4    .

Not everyone believes that the green exercise is more beneficial than working out in a health club or gym.     5    . Meanwhile, the use of fitness devices may result in more challenging workouts which help strengthen the heart and lungs in ways that more simplistic exercise in a natural setting would be difficult to manage.

A.A green gym uses as little equipment as possible
B.Spirits are also believed to be positively affected
C.Opinions on what truly green exercise means differ
D.Green exercise includes a range of activities exposed to nature
E.So riding a bicycle in the forest can be called a type of green exercise
F.It usually doesn't use fitness equipment that is normally found in a gym
G.Some point out that many health clubs are built to make full use of natural light

文章大意:本文是篇议论文。在当今社会,许多人都有久坐的现象,作者在文章中说明了久坐的危害,并就如何解决这个问题,提出了指导方针。

2 . Are you sitting more than ever?     1     You’re probably sitting while reading this. Sometimes you sit when you are driving or attending a meeting. Other times you sit when you engage yourself in watching a movie or playing computer games. That’s undoubtedly a lot of sitting. The fact is, the amount of time spent sitting has increased over time.     2

We know sitting too much is bad, and most of us naturally feel a little guilty after a long-time TV watching.     3     A study on nearly 8,000 adults suggests that there’s a direct relationship between the time spent sitting and our risk of early death of any cause. As the total sitting time increases, so does the risk of early death.

“Sit less, move more” is what the Heart Association encourages us to do.     4     It is like telling someone to just ”exercise“ without telling them how. Exercise guidelines are always more practical. For example, the Center for Disease Control recommends adults do exercise for two hours and 30 minutes every week, plus muscle strengthening activities two or more days a week. We need similar guidelines for sitting.

5     “It would probably be like, for every 30 continuous minutes of sitting, stand up and move or walk for five minutes at a quick pace,” Diaz, the lead researcher said, adding that the study has put us a step closer to the satisfying guidelines. But more researches are needed to confirm their approach.

A.Now it’s time to get up and move around.
B.Take a moment to think about your sitting activities.
C.Health experts also suggest exercising on a daily basis.
D.But this guideline is just too simple and abstract to make a difference.
E.As of today, average adult will spend 56-86% of their daily time sitting.
F.But what exactly goes wrong when we park ourselves for nearly eight hours per day?
G.To make up for the weakness, a research team is working on a more specific guideline.

Find exercise friends. Perhaps there's a family nearby with kids the same age. See if they would like to exercise together.    4    Besides, it sets a level of cooperation where you can't let the other family down. It's also a good excuse for a coffee and a chat with the mum or dad afterwards.

6 . Tips to Exercise When It’s Really Hot Outside

Exercising in the fresh air might seem like a good idea.     1     When we exercise outdoors in hot weather, there’s an increased risk of serious heart-related illnesses. Therefore, we need to bear some tips in mind during our workouts in the summer sunshine.

2     Go in the morning or evening. The middle of the day isn’t a good time to exercise in the warmer months. If we choose to exercise in the midday sun or the afternoon sun, we’ll get tired soon and dehydrate (脱水) much faster in direct, intense sunlight.     3     Just try to exercise on the shady (背阴的) side of the building to avoid the midday sun.

Drink promptly (及时地). Regardless of how fit we are, exercising outside will pose a significant danger to our body when it’s hot. Drinking water is probably the most basic part of exercising in the sun.     4     Drink water every 15 minutes when exercising in the heat, even if we are not thirsty. Aim for 2 to 4 cups (16 to 32 ounces) of fluids each hour.

Dress appropriately. Wear material that will help our body breathe. Consider wearing light colored clothing.     5     Besides, sunscreen is a must whenever we exercise outdoors. In addition, don’t forget to bring a hat because it provides shade so our head can stay cool.

A.Choose the right time to exercise.
B.Drink as much water as possible.
C.So be sure to take enough water with us.
D.That’s not to say we can’t exercise in the midday.
E.Light colors absorb less heat than darker colors.
F.Overall, the key to exercising is to listen to our body.
G.It’s dangerous, however, to exercise outside in hot weather.

10 . There have always been a lot of commonly believed but false ideas about being fat and doing exercise. Some people believe that they can' t help putting on weight as they get older while others hold that if they stop exercising, their muscles will turn into fat.     1

I’ ll never lose weight — I come from a fat family

Wrong. While we can'tchange the body type we are born with, we can't blame our genes for making us fat. There' s plenty of evidence that fatness runs in families, and the main reason is that they share the same habits of eating too much and exercising too little.

    2

Wrong! Fatness is not caused by a slow metabolism (新陈代谢). In fact, although fat people consume more energy than slim people, they also fail to realize how much they eat! Keeping a diary can help you work out your daily food intake more accurately

Exercising is boring

Wrong!     3     The key is to develop a balanced and varied program that' s fun as well as progressive. If you enjoy a Sunday walk, take a different route. If you do yoga, try a tai chi class. If you like swimming, set yourself a distance or time challenge.

No pain, no gain

Wrong!    4    Indeed, pain is your body telling you something' s wrong, and continuing to exercise could lead to serious injury. You may experience mild discomfort as you begin to exercise regularly, but this is your body adapting to the positive changes in your lifestyle and the aches should disappear relatively quickly.    5

A.Anything can be boring if you do it repetitively.
B.Exercise should be stopped if continuous pain is felt.
C.If you don' t, rest and seek medical advice.
D.Exercise is not meant to hurt.
E.Here are more myths (false ideas).
F.People are fat because they consume too little energy.
G.I am fat because I burn calories slowly.
