文章大意:本文是说明文。文章主要介绍了一种新的运动方式——绿色运动,不同于在使用健身房的健身设施,更强调与大自然的接触,表明其利弊。

1 . Green exercise is a term used to describe any type of physical exercise that takes place in a natural environment rather than in a health club or gym.     1    . Instead, it relies on the use of natural means of taking part in activities that improve strength and endurance with as little reliance on equipment as possible.

2    . For example, some consider a truly natural exercise experience requires that the individual wear clothing only made from natural fibers. Others consider barefoot running or walking with a big arena to be more desirable than running or walking with shoes.

A slightly different approach to green exercise puts more stress on the fresh air, sunshine and involvement with the natural world, rather than the equipment or clothing used during the exercise.     3    . Similarly, climbing a mountain using standard equipment and protective clothing would also be considered a green exercise.

Many consider green exercise helps to reconnect human beings with the natural world. The interaction with nature helps to lower people's blood pressure, refresh their mind, and actually improve their self-esteem.     4    .

Not everyone believes that the green exercise is more beneficial than working out in a health club or gym.     5    . Meanwhile, the use of fitness devices may result in more challenging workouts which help strengthen the heart and lungs in ways that more simplistic exercise in a natural setting would be difficult to manage.

A.A green gym uses as little equipment as possible
B.Spirits are also believed to be positively affected
C.Opinions on what truly green exercise means differ
D.Green exercise includes a range of activities exposed to nature
E.So riding a bicycle in the forest can be called a type of green exercise
F.It usually doesn't use fitness equipment that is normally found in a gym
G.Some point out that many health clubs are built to make full use of natural light

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了过度训练的风险。

2 . Risks of Overtraining

Getting in shape and training for an event such as a marathon requires long-lasting and intense physical commitment.    1     But the truth is, sometimes the very acts we do to get healthy can actually push us past our physical limits.

Specifically, overtraining is a set of signs that occur when your body is not able to recover sufficiently before going into your next workout.     2    People tend to ignore them. Over time, the cycle of starting the next training session before allowing recovery causes breakdown of the very parts of the body that you work so hard to build up.

The structures and systems of your body adapt to the demands you have placed on them before the rest time. If your workout slightly goes beyond your current ability, it will adapt toward what you did in a positive way.     3

Two main factors are necessary in recovery: nutrition. and rest. Good nutrition, including water and protein intake, is extremely important, especially within 40 minutes of your workout.     4    Your body uses the nutrients you have given it during the rest time. especially sleep, to strengthen.

One of the best ways to prevent overtraining is to focus on your morning resting heart rate.     5    Generally, you will detect an increase in your heart rate before the other signs show up. Tracking it in a log can be a great way to monitor your recovery.

A.It's easy to measure and track.
B.Allowing time for recovery is also essential.
C.The problem is that they show up very gradually.
D.Below are the signs and symptoms of overtraining.
E.Listening to your body will assure you of your fitness goals.
F.If far beyond, it'll take longer to adapt and may cause injury.
G.We generally assume regular intense exercise good for our health.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,本文主要介绍的是瑜伽是一项有益于减肥的动动以及它是如何成为一套完整的身心锻炼的运动的。

5 . Yoga for Weight Loss

Yoga is a form of exercise that uses your large muscle groups and raises your heart rate, and it is beneficial for weight loss. Practising yoga can help you burn calories long after you hit the mat, even if you don’t do more intense(剧烈的) forms of yoga. That’s because yoga’s other benefits can help with weight loss too.     1

    2

Yoga helps manage stress, and studies show that high levels of cortisol, a stress hormone(荷尔蒙), can lead to an increase in fat and reduce your muscle mass. Yoga has an effect on the body’s stress response and reduces the production of hormones linked to weight gain, such as cortisol.

Moving Well, Eating Well

One of the key tools used in yoga is the concept of mindfulness.     3     In a 2016 study, people taking part in yoga practice realised that they were able to notice not only how much food they ate, but also what type of foods they ate and the effect of eating those foods.

Making Weight Loss Last

Doing yoga long term can help people lose weight.     4     “Yoga may help to improve long-term weight loss results through improvements in mindfulness and a more positive attitude.” Jessica Unick says.

Choosing the Right Type

5     The best yoga is the practice that fits you—the one you’ll put your heart into. There are now many styles of yoga that meet you no matter what your size, age, physical challenge or background. Everybody and every body can benefit from a yoga practice.

A.Eating Well, Reducing Stress
B.Reducing Stress, Reducing Pounds
C.Some styles of yoga may be more intense than others.
D.There’s no one style of yoga that’s best for weight loss.
E.It can also strengthen their determination to keep weight.
F.Here’s more about how yoga is a complete body and mind exercise.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,主要讲的是在健身房锻炼的注意事项。

6 . The smell of sweat, the noise of crashing weights and the muscular people in tank tops make the gym’s strength class or weight room seem forbidding, whether you’re a seasoned lifter or a complete beginner.

1     Most benefits of strength training go beyond appearances. It subjects our bones to more pressure than our daily routines and increases muscle mass and bone density. Now that you know resistance training is important, here’s how to get started.

Set a goal that is attainable and improves your daily life.     2     That might mean pressing weight overhead to ensure you can put your luggage in the airplane’s overhead bin or doing weighted squats (深蹲) for hiking preparation.

The ideal way is to work one-on-one with an experienced certified trainer.     3     Look for one who not only guides you through workouts but also understands your unique journey and helps you reach your full potential.

Private training with friends or joining in small group classes is also a cost-effective way to get individual attention. While you might tend to position yourself in the back corner of the room, I suggest heading to the front where a coach can monitor your form and offer feedback.

4     If you favor strength-training apps, opt for one with video demonstrations. If none of these are appealing, start at home with basic-level bodyweight exercises like squats.     5     Grab a gallon water jug, hug it to your chest and dive into a squat. This not only adds resistance but challenges your core muscles to sustain stability.

A.It’s like having a fitness associate.
B.It’s worth pushing past that fear though.
C.Take my word for it, no one else is looking at you.
D.As you gain more confidence and strength, raise the bar.
E.You’ll begin to see an impact far beyond your jeans fitting better.
F.Think about which aspect of your life could be noticeably improved.
G.Take videos of yourself performing those movements and watch them between sets.

7 . Whether someone makes you angry, you’re upset with yourself, or you’re just having a bad day, one of the best ways to direct your angry energy is through exercise. That angry energy can build inside of you.     1     If you’re looking to direct your anger through exercise, there are exercises suitable for it.

Running is a very effective technique to calm anxieties. The focus it takes to run and the endorphins your body releases will take your mind off whatever is frustrating you. Be sure to adequately warm up and stretch before you run!     2     You can enhance the benefits by running in an area that is free of distractions like around a lake or through a peaceful part of the city.

A challenging yoga practice is a great way to control your anger to help you get through it. You may be so frustrated that getting started in a yoga practice may seem impossible.     3     You can focus on directing your angry energy into each of the movements. It may also help you to have the support of the group to help you get involved.

4     Conditioning classes are a great opportunity to focus your angry energy into hitting a heavy punching bag while also burning a lot of calories. These classes are often challenging, so you can use your anger to help you get through the difficulty of the workout. Focus on your breathing, your technique, and harnessing your anger to deliver strong punches.

Cycling is a serious cardiovascular (心血管的) workout and you can use your anger to help you push through the difficulty of it. When you go for a ride outdoors, the extra focus it takes to navigate the outside world can provide a helpful distraction from your frustration.     5

9 . Rene Campbell has devoted most of her life to shaping her figure into one completely against what society thinks a woman should look like.

“I was always very insecure about my body image, as everyone seemed to know for sure that women needed to look a certain way,” she says when reflecting on her motivation to transform herself.     1     For quite some time, she struggled with eating disorders because she was trying to keep her weight really low and appear skinny, like the women on magazine covers.     2     It was then that she became attracted by the way these seemingly confident women held themselves.

However, building her dream body—gaining over 85 pounds, going from a size 8 to 14—has had its challenges, too. “    3     When I tell them that I am a female bodybuilder, the first reaction is, ‘Muscles for women are just not attractive,’” Campbell says. Though she loves the way she now looks, she is sometimes treated with cruelty.

4    Even though there is a huge market encouraging women to build muscles and tighten their figures, the ideal still stands for smaller waists, and thin legs, the so-called perfect figure. For women to build up strong muscles, it takes a strong heart.

“I gradually learn to ignore others’ voices and become committed to the training. It is a very big shift for me, and it has won me plenty of awards.     5     My bodybuilding journey makes me realize that I need to do things for myself.” Campbell says.

A.She was constantly feeling under pressure.
B.Women have to pay a huge price to build a slim figure.
C.It does bring a sense of confidence and mental strength.
D.The body of super-muscular women is considered unwelcome.
E.Luckily, Campbell was chosen to shoot for one of the magazines.
F.People don’t understand why women would want to be muscular.
G.Purely by chance, Campbell attended a women’s bodybuilding show.
