The UNESCO Global Geo park (地质公园)consists of six local communities, each with their own featured     1    (attraction) ranging from mini farms to geological gardens. These communities were looking for ways to develop sustainable geotourism in this rural area.

Very recently, the Geo park acquired an     2    ( abandon) church building and will transform it into a new Geo park Centre    3     will serve not only as a community and visitor centre,but also offer a range of services and facilities. As an outdoor laboratory for local schools,the Geo park focuses on    5    fun, interactive, discovery learning style, aiming to build pride in the communities. They also work with universities    6    adult education centers covering a wide range of subjects including local geology,archaeology and architecture. China's FAST telescope officially opens to global astronomers

China’s Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), the world’s     1     (large) single-dish and most sensitive radio telescope, officially opened to the world starting Wednesday. Astronomers worldwide can visit http://fast.bao.ac.cn/proposal_submit     2     (submit) their applications for observations, said the National Astronomical Observatories under the Chinese Academy of Sciences in a statement. All foreign applications will be evaluated, and the results will be announced on July 20. Observations by international users will begin in August.

The statement noted that FAST will provide its research facilities to the world with a more open attitude,     3     (offer) more observation options for the international astronomical community. The project will contribute Chinese wisdom to     4     construction of a community with a     5     (share) future for humanity, and strive to promote international sci-tech development and the progress of human     6     (civilize), said the statement.     7     it started operation, FAST has provided stable and reliable services. The Sanxingdui Ruins site lies in Sichuan province. It     1    (consider) one of the most important archeological sites along the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.

Six pits (坑) were newly discovered in     2     site, according to a news conference in Chengdu     3     March 20. According to Xinhua, these pits date back 3,200 to 4000 years and include over 500 artifacts.

“Thanks to the new discoveries, so far we    4    (find) the layout of the sacrificial zone of the Sanxingdui site.” said Lei Yu, a researcher     5     is in charge of the going on digging work.

The 12-square kilometers site was discovered in 1929, and major breakthroughs were made in 1986 with the discovery of two pits     6     (believe) to be for sacrificial ceremonies. The pits were uncovered accidentally by local farmers digging up earth     7    (make) bricks.

Over 1000 items were found at that time, including bronze-wares, face masks,     8     more. Lei pointed out that there were many similarities among the     9    (recent) discovered pits and the two found in 1986, in terms of the types of items unearthed.

“These items show the Sanxingdui site not only had a close     10    (connect) with Central China, but it also marks an original ancient civilization.” said Chen Xiandan, a member of the project.

Don Stephenson used to live in the streets a few years ago. He was homeless and poor. “I didn’t know     1     my next meal was coming from,” he says. The teen years are not easy for parents and teens. Teens try to set themselves apart     1     their parents, and one way may be to dress in a way that parents may disagree on.
