Last week, a grand ceremony paying respect to Huangdi,    1     legendary ancestor of the Chinese nation,     2     (hold) at the Xiandu Scenic Spot in Jinyun, Zhejiang province, on the Chongyang Festival.

The ceremony,     3     started at 9:50 am, consisted of nine parts, including striking bells, offering flower baskets and wine to a carols. It     4     (have) the theme of "showing respect to Chinese ancestors with efforts all over the world and opening new     5    (chapter) for attaining common prosperity". During the ceremony, drums were played 34 times and bells were rung 15 times,     6     (represent) 1.5 billion Chinese from 34 provinces, municipalities，autonomous regions and special administrative regions in China and overseas Chinese.

The     7     (year) ceremony for Huangdi in Jinyun dates back     8     the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Showing respect to Huangdi in the new times is reverence (敬畏) for the ancestors who started the Chinese civilization. What's     9     (much), it can inspire the Chinese     10     (unite), helping build the common spiritual home for all Chinese.

2 . I am a professional athlete. I've always worked hard to _________ myself to my limits and with that usually come some aches and _________. Last year when I started to feel some muscle pain after _________ exercise, at first I didn't think it was a big _________. 4 . Life Outside London: Five Reasons to Visit the North of England!

Most people when visiting England will go to London. In fact most people don't even know much about England outside of London. It makes sense. It's the capital. There are lots to se there. However, as a northern girl, from a place just between Manchester and Liverpool, and a university student in Sheffield. I'd say the north is well worth a visit, and definitely as good if not better than London! Here are five reasons:

Friendliness

Northerners will chat to you on the bus, say hello in the streets and won't think you're crazy if you smile at them when you walk past. Friendly northerners might also call you "duck" or "love" don't worry, they call everyone that.

Gravy

Now although Southerners have gravy (a delicious meaty sauce that goes well with everything), they don't do it properly. You haven't lived until you've tried chip-shop chips swimming in gravy.

Beautiful Countryside

We have the Peak District, and the Lake District. They're both absolutely beautiful and definitely worth a visit. We also have some pretty amazing beaches too.

Excellent Party Cities

We have Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield You can't go wrong if you want to go on a night out here.

Low Cost

The same night won't cost you anywhere near as much up north! In London you can pay over for a pint, which is outrageous! For some reason, everything up North is cheaper, from food to drink to getting around, you can't go wrong when you're spending less money.

There are lots of lovely things to see in the North, so if you can brave the weather being a bit colder and wetter, it's definitely worth a trip.

5 . Leanne Carrasco ordered 95 pizzas (比萨饼). The high school senior and her friends filled up goody bags. But this was not your typical graduation party.     1     Instead, she decided to mark her high school graduation by giving back to the community. So she threw a pizza party at a homeless shelter for women and children in Houston, Texas. It took her a month to prepare.

Carrasco had volunteered before, with her family, at the Star of Hope Family Development Center. But this time was different.     2     In the month leading up to the party they collected toothbrushes, toothpaste and soap (肥皂). They packed them into 400 bags to hand out to residents (居民) of the shelter.

On Sunday, it was party time. The pizza was a hit, and so were the bags.     3     They had respect for these people. They made sure the residents knew that someone cared.

In all Carrasco and her friends served about 200 people. For the shelter residents, it was a magical day.     4    

Carrasco did a good job but she won’t let it go to her head anytime soon. The graduating senior plans to study nursing at Briar Cliff University in Iowa in the fall.     5     “I’d rather make a difference in the lives of the homeless residents at Star of Hope than have a big party,” she said.

6 . An Olympic Village is a place that houses Olympic competitors. It is a place where they prepare for what might be the most important moment in their life. But we want to know more about this mysterious place: What really happens in the village?

We asked swimmer Natalie Coughlin, a three time Olympian and 12 -time medalist. She says, “People think it’s a lot more attractive and interesting than it is. It isn’t. It’s like a huge college campus, including a bank, a salon, a post office, and a huge cafeteria- except that everyone is anxious, getting ready for their biggest event under unbelievably high pressure (压力).”

But some other Olympians look differently at their campus. “It’s like the first day of college,” water polo player Tony Azevedo says. “You’re super excited. Everyone s meeting people and trying to socialize with others,”

Coughlin says the best spot to be in the village is the cafeteria. Not only does it provide a place to talk with the rest of the athletes from your country but it’s a great chance for people watching. One of her favorite games was to tell what sport someone in front of her took based on their body type.

Living in the same village means athletes run into one another all the time. Coughlin shares this story: While in London in 2012, at one point applause (欢呼) broke out at the arrival of someone. Coughlin thought it was one of the British royals (王室成员), but it ended up being Jamaica’s Usain Bolt (the world’s greatest runner alive). Runner Allyson Felix— a winner of six gold Olympic medals— has also had her run-ins. In 2008, she came across the world-famous U. S. men’s basketball team, including Anthony, Bryant, Wade and other top players.

It’s “a pretty wild scene, the biggest melting pot— a place where large numbers of people, ideas, and cultures are mixed together— you’ve been in,” said swimmer Eric Shanteau. Felix agrees, saying, “You get to meet people from other countries that you wouldn’t even come into contact with. To me that’s the coolest thing.

In October 2017,Margaret called a number that she believed belonged to (属于)her grandson Barry,and when he didn't pick up, she     1    (leave) him a voicemail. The person she had called Callie Hall,called Margaret back to let her know she had the wrong number, but over the next couple of     2     (month),Margaret made the mistake a few more times.

"She called about once every two weeks to check in on Barry-whether he needed his shirt repaired     3     anything else he may need,"Hall said."I would call her back to let her know it was till me and we would chat(聊天）a little each time.”

After trying to wish Barry     4     happy birthday on December 19. 2017, but again calling Hall,Margaret     5     (final) worked it out. However, that didn't stop her continuing to call Hall--this time     6    purpose.

"This time the voicemail said,'Hello,Callie!' " Hall said." I worked out Barry's number.Thank you for being my friend. Love you ,later. "

From that day forward, they began to form a real     7     (friend). Hall still let Margaret's phone calls go to voicemail because she enjoyed     8     (listen) to her messages later when she needed to brighten her day. But she would also be happy     9     (call) Margaret back so the two could chat. Hall was suffering from an illness. and     10    (they) chats began providing her with encouragement during difficult times"
