2 . One morning I noticed a woman sitting alone at the bus stop. She seemed not to go to work hurriedly. She wasn't going anywhere as well. Was she waiting for the bus? Did mall(商场)buses come this early when the stores wouldn't be open for hours? I felt puzzled. As I drove by, I heard a voice say, "Give her a bottle of water."

"She looks like she is sleeping. Why would I wake her? What is wrong with me? What is so hard about doing the right thing? It's just a bottle of water!"

So I drove by her again and again. Finally, I pulled my car into a parking zone, stepping out with a bottle of water in one hand and a twenty-dollar bill in the other. Each step seemed to fill me with purpose and focus. No words can describe what happened between us at that moment. I thought I was bringing her a cold drink, but instead I was bringing her a hope she needed. We sat together for a while as she talked. She had a sad story to tell, but she was no longer sad. Before we parted, I grabbed all the cash I had in my purse and found more water in my car along with some snacks. We stood at the bus stop hugging and said our goodbyes.

I still have a thousand questions as to why I struggled to act. Why did it take me many circles around the mall and an argument with myself? I was once torn between helping her and ignoring her. All I know for sure is that while walking toward that woman at the bus stop, a miracle happened.

There are opportunities for us to love every day. Maybe our doubts keep us from acting. Maybe we don't want to take the risk or be uncomfortable. That day, I learned how love answers when asked and how love both gives and receives.

1. How did the author feel about the woman sitting alone in the beginning?
A.Annoyed.B.Confused.C.Terrified.D.Amused.
2. Why did the author drive by the woman over and over again?
A.To observe the poor woman.B.To search for a parking space.
C.To evaluate whether to help her.D.To improve the terribly poor driving skills.
3. Which of the following can replace the underlined word "torn" in paragraph 4?
A.ready to acceptB.unable to decideC.glad to receiveD.illegal to choose
4. What can we learn from the text?
A.The wealth of life is action.B.Love breaks down racial barriers.
C.Actions speak louder than words.D.The best act to love is taking action.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了一项关于小憩的发明——鸵鸟枕。

6 . The Ostrich Pillow was created by a European designer, who wanted to find a creative way to provide people with the health and productivity benefits commonly associated with power napping (小憩). Power napping is as important as normal sleep. Only when you’re done with a power nap, are you expected to actually work better.

When you wake up from a normal nap, it’s completely OK to glance around the room, confirm that John Hodgman riding a unicorn (独角兽) was just an amazing dream, and then roll over to fall back asleep.

But the Ostrich Pillow is specifically designed for those shorter periods of rest-the power naps-and the creators say that their invention allows you to sleep anytime, anywhere by creating a “little private space within a public one, to relax and rest.”

Perhaps this says a lot about people’s attitudes toward napping and the importance of taking a little nap during the busy workday. The advertisement for the Ostrich Pillow even claims that a 20-minute power nap can increase productivity by 37%.

Amazing! I can only dream of all the things I would get done at the office if I actually worked at 37% productivity. And to think, all I need is a quick nap as soon as I get to my desk!

In general, the Ostrich Pillow seems like a great idea. It’s convenient. It’s comfortable. It has a place for your hands. But the big question is whether people will actually wear it in public.

Nevertheless, I’m still hoping to get my hands on one of these to give it a proper test drive. But, until then, if you need me, I’ll be sleeping buried on my desk!

1. According to the passage, we can learn that ________.
A.the Ostrich Pillow can help people sleep longer
B.power napping can help people work better
C.people from a normal nap usually dream about a unicorn
D.John Hodgman invented the Ostrich Pillow
2. What does the writer think about the advertisement?
A.He feels bored.B.He doubts it.C.He believes it.D.He dislikes it.
3. Which of the following best describes the Ostrich Pillow?
A.Comfortable and cheap.B.Productive and relaxing.
C.Convenient and comfortable.D.Special and attractive.
4. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.The writer has got an Ostrich Pillow.
B.The writer is willing to have a drive test.
C.The writer will be sleeping on his desk without that.
D.The writer expects to own an Ostrich Pillow.
5. What might be the author’s purpose of writing the text?
A.To introduce an invention for power napping.
B.To advertise a new invention — the Ostrich Pillow.
C.To inform people the importance of power napping.
D.To tell people a better way of keeping power napping.

文章大意:这是一篇新闻报道。文章讲述了一位70岁的老太太陈继芳在抖音上发布健身视频,用她充满活力的锻炼赢得了人们的心。

9 . A 70-year-old woman wins hearts with her energetic workouts on Douyin, He Qi reports in Shanghai.

Videos on the social networking platform Douyin—also know globally as TikTok—that show men and women with perfect physiques working out or giving fitness tips are commonplace. Trying to stand out from millions of such videos can often be difficult, but a relatively new account, which has only been active since last year, has managed to do so easily.

The fitness instructor behind this account is not a young woman with a slim, toned figure that would leave viewers green with envy. The star here is 70-year-old Chen Jifang, a Shanghai resident with 3 million likes on her Douyin videos. She was once even featured on a reality show on China Central Television.

According to her trainer, who helped to manage the Douyin account, Chen attracted more than 400,000 followers within just a few months. "The main group that I wanted to encourage was people ages 30 to 50," says Chen. "I think they will be motivated to work out in the gym after seeing that a granny like me can. The message I want to convey is that it is never too late to pursue good health."

While most people would be concerned about having an elderly family member perform such intensive workouts in the gym, Chen has the full support of her family. Her husband shows his support by doing most of the housework. Her daughter, on the other hand, helps to pick her gym attire(运动服装).

Chen may be a star in her own right, but she is also just one of many elderly citizens in China's major cities who are embracing exercise.

1. What does "commonplace" probably mean?
A.unusualB.important
C.usualD.unimportant
2. Chen Jifang created this account on Douyin mainly to ________.

3. What do we learn about Chen's family?
