Baby carriages are welcome, but cannot be left unattended. Please contact the museum before your visit with any questions.

Activities

Audio guides are available at the information desk, with one tour aimed at adults and one at younger visitors. A small charge applies.

Gallery routes: Discover the polar regions with a pack-a-polar suitcase route, an explorer route and other activities for children.

2 . Tom Sawyer Play Is an Adventure

A 35-minute hand-clapping, foot-stomping musical version of a Mark Twain favorite returns with this Tall Stacks festival.

“Tom Sawyer: A River Adventure” has all the good stuff, including the fence painting, the graveyard, the island and the cave. It is adapted by Joe McDonough, with music by David Kisor. That’s the local stage writing team that creates many of the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s original musicals, along with the holiday family musicals at Ensemble Theatre.

This year Nathan Turner of Burlington is Tom Sawyer, and Robbie McMath of Fort Mitchell is Huck Finn.

Tumer, a 10th-grader at School for Creative and Performing Arts, is a familiar presence on Cincinnati’s stages. He is a star act or of Children’s Theatre, having played leading roles in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and “The Wizard of Oz,” and is fresh from Jersey Production “Ragtime”.

McMath is a junior at Beechwood High School. He was in the cast of “Tom Sawyer” when it was first performed and is a Children’s Theatre regular, with five shows to his credit. This summer he attended Kentucky’s Governor’s School for the Arts in Musical Theatre.

6 . As a qualified teacher of art and design, Theresa Harwood offers short online courses on drawing and painting to help students both young and old develop into confident artists.

Academic drawing course

This course is for absolute beginners of any age who are not sure on what to do or how to use a pencil. The course will be limited to only six participants, 5 sessions, once a week.

Water color painting course

This course is for anyone who is interested in developing skills for water colour painting. Through a series of 6 projects we learn wet on wet and wet on dry. The course will be limited to only twelve participants. 6 sessions, once a week.

Landscape drawing course

This course is suitable for anyone from 11 to 90 years who are interested in developing skills for landscape drawing. The only requirement of the course is that you want to learn to draw! The course will be limited to only ten participants. 5 sessions, once a week.

Price: $380

Western art history course

This course is for students, aged between 9 and 12 years. It looks at the fun facts of the key artworks of each art movement and explains why the artists painted certain views or people. The course will be limited to only eight participants. 6 sessions, once a week.

9 . Westbourne House offers a morning school transport service from Monday to Friday.

Routes

Based on the interest received from parents, we are running three minibus routes: Midhurst, Petworth and the Witterings. The interest received for each of these locations was reasonably spread out. We have therefore included pick-up points to accommodate as many families as possible while trying to keep the time of the journey at a reasonable length. The pick-up points along the route are as follows:

Reserve a minibus seat

We still have seats available on each of the routes. Therefore, please complete the minibus reservation form to confirm your place/s. Seats will be available on a “first come first served” basis.

Fees

The minibus service will be offered at a price of £160 per term per child. A 5% discount is offered for a second child of the family.

Age of Children

Children must be at least 5 years old to use the minibus service.

Running Late or Absent

The minibuses are on a strict timetable to arrive at each pick-up spot on time. To ensure the children arrive at school on time, the minibuses will not be able to wait for any late arrivals. If children miss the bus, it is the parents’ responsibility to provide transportation and get them to school. If you know you will not be taking the bus one day, we ask that you please send a text message to your driver.
