I took part in an English Speech Contest last week. As only competitor from our class, I had to compete with 14 other excellent participants selecting from the whole school. When it is my turn, I got a little bit nervous at first, but soon I calmed me down at the thought of my English teacher’s instructions. Then anything went smoothly. I performed so good that the judges and audiences gave me a big round of applause. Although the question-and-answer section was the most challenging, but I managed to get through properly. When the judge announced the finally result, I was excited that I won first prize, that was totally beyond my imagination.

Last term an English speech contest is held in our school. Seeing the notice, many students took interests in it. My English teacher Miss Li thought it was a good chance for me to improving my English and encouraged me to take part. So I decided to have a try. During the prepare, my teacher offered me great help. She not only polished with my speech draft and also corrected my pronunciation. As a result, my speech improved great. As Grandma gets older, she is getting more and more forgetful. I went to a nearby supermarket with her on last week. I pushed the shopping cart around to load it with what we want to buy. I was looking at some snacks while I realized Grandma was missed. I looked for her everywhere and she was nowhere to be found. So I turned to security guard who was on duty with tear in my eyes. He comforted me patient and told me to wait by the apple stand when she and other guards were searching for Grandma. It was not long before Grandma was found and brought to me. I was very grateful that I decided to put it forward and help others whenever possible.

I hardly remember my grandmother. She used to holding me on her knees and sing old songs. I was only four when she passes away. She is just a distant memory for me now.

Many students tend to copy others’ homework while the deadline comes, as is often the case. But nowadays, more students chose to hire someone to write to homework for them. Therefore, on-line ghostwriting has emerged to meet students’ needs. In our surprise, parents make up a large part in those homework buyer.
Too much homework may be main reason for ghostwriting phenomenon. Many students cannot finish their homework on time, but they do this to avoid the punishment of their teachers. Beside, poor sense of time makes this too late for students to finish homework before deadline.
In my opinion, proper amount of homework and the cultivation of sense of time may help solving this problem.

Last week, my English teacher let us did some research on “How to study English well”, She asked us to form a small group, that was made up with five students. In my group, there are three girls and two boys. I suggested we each play different role in it. Then I prepared the questions, and the rest of my group collected students’ answer. Because we worked as a team, so the research went very good and ended within two hours. The teacher praised me group, and I learned the important of cooperation（合作）.
