In response to the call of nationwide labor education, a series of hands-on courses launched last term in our school, ranging from planting vegetables to making tradition handicrafts.
Sewing is one of my favorite course where I obtained a fundamental knowledge of essential life skills such as sewing a button, knit a scarf, and making a cushion by operating the sewing machine. It was sure a rewarding and fulfilling experience, that not only enriched our extracurricular life but also helped us acquire practical basic working capabilities for livelihood and form the good habit of labouring.
The hands-on courses have won a popularity among students and had a positive effect to the personal growth of everyone involved. If possible, an exhibition could be held to demonstrate students well-designed works and displayed their creativity.

Yesterday I went to see a film call “The Battle at Lake Changjin”. It tells the story to the Chinese People's Volunteer Army taking a part in the war to help Korea fight against the U.S. aggression (侵略). The film was a great successful in the National Holiday period. In the movie, the Chinese army men fought brave below -40℃ in a key battle around Lake Changjin. It was not the film itself that moved people, and the heroes of the war years when fought for our country. The heroes never considered them own safety. Since it was shown, the total box office (票房) reached the top of China's box office. I am looking forward to seeing more wonderful film in the future.

Learning that the captain of the ship, the Beagle, wanted someone who would like to have the opportunity of visiting distance countries yet little known, a young man answered the call. Obviously, he was not the captain’s first choice. That was why he had left medical school without completing his degree. The young man in question was Charles Darwin,a geologist and naturalist, fascinating by rocks, plants and animals. He had his room on the ship crowded with samples of the plants and animals he had collected. Studying these, he wondered what different species came to exist.
After noticing some species of animals were similar to each other, he came up an idea that maybe animals evolved as they adapted to their changing environments.
It was such new an idea that nobody believed him. But they refused to believe that living things, including humans, had evolved from lower form of life.

Last term, I hosted an exchange student naming Jacob from the Great Britain to our school. He really cares for Chinese Culture. Jacob asked me to show himself around the city on weekends. I took him to many local place of interest and we also go to the theater to watch a show of Peking Opera. He was so attracted by the performance as he decided to learn it. My father happened to know a master of Peking Opera and introduced Jacob to him. Jacob was great honored to be one of his students. Put his heart into it, Jacob made a rapid progress. When he returned England, he gave a performance, for what he won much admiration from his classmates.

The other day, I was invited my friend Sam's home for dinner. I felt a bit surprising when I saw Bill there. It was two month since we two had quarreled, so I was embarrassed and didn't know how to do. I sat down on the sofa but began to watch TV. Later, Sam came to ask me to make up with Bill. It was Monday morning, and the writing class had just begin. Everyone was silent, wait to see who would be called upon to read his and her paragraph aloud. I live in the country and my father was a farmer. He is now forty-five year old. Because of years of hard work, he looks old than his age. Recently, a famous basketball player has caused public angry by writing on the Great Wall. In the fact, this happens in many place of interest. I had some suggestions to solve this problem.
First, make more posters to inform the public the damage of graffiti (涂鸦). Besides, punishments, such as a fine, is necessary to tourists with so bad behavior. Also, I think it’s helpfully to put up some boards along the tourist attractions that tourists can leave messages.
I’m sure with our efforts, more and more people will become concerning about protecting cultural relics.
