I like music very much, pop songs particularly. Every evening then I am doing homework and at weekends when I at home, I always play some of my favorite songs on my tape recorder. The familiar patterns of notes attracts me into the colourfully world of music. Now and then I stopped to follow the songs. Sometimes, my mother comes in, asking me to fix my attention to my homework. She does not like the pop music. Like most grown-ups, she enjoys folk songs, because the peaceful music reminds her of their beautiful life when she was young. It is a truth which people of different age understand music differently and enjoy different kinds of music.

A Frenchman was once visiting London. He wished to take a walk to see a city. But he was afraid he might get lost because he knew no words of English. So before he left his hotel, he stopped in the first corner and carefully copied in his notebook the names of the street that he was staying. Then he walked on. At last, he got being lost. After several hours he found a policeman. The Frenchman tried his best to explain the policeman that he didn’t know the name of his hotel, and he knew the name of the street. He then showed the policeman that he copied in his notebook. It was read: “One-way street”.

When I first learned to write in English, I run into many difficulties. The main problem was in that I always thought in Chinese but tried to translate everything into Chinese. My teacher advised me to keep diaries. I followed her advices. Happily it worked. Soon I began to enjoy talk to myself on paper as I was learning to express me in simple English. One day I wrote a short story and showed to my teacher. She liked it very much that she read it to the class. Everyone said the story was the good one. I was great encouraged by their words.

Like most of my schoolmates, I have neither brothers nor sisters; in another words, I am the only child. My parents love me dearly of course and will do all they can make sure that I get a good education. They did not want me to do any work at family; they want me to devote all my time on my studies so that I'll get good marks in all my subject. We may be one family and live under a same roof, but we do not seem to get much time to talk about together. It looks as if my parents treat me as a visitor and a guest. Do they really understand their own daughter? What things are in other homes, I wonder.
