Huang Danian, a noted Chinese geophysicist (物理学),     1     (devote) himself to science and made great contributions to China’s deep earth exploration.

Born in 1958 in Nanning, Guangxi, Huang’s passion     2     geophysics started from an early age. In 1993, he went to England for further studies, and earned his doctor’s degree in geophysics,     3     (rank) the top of his class. Huang later joined a geophysical service company in Cambridge to gain first-hand experience.

During his stay in England, Huang remained     4     (commit) to his motherland. He long dreamed of going back to “serve my country with my whole heart”. The opportunity came in 2008,     5     China launched a national program for global top talent.     6     (participate) in the program, Huang quit his job with no     7     (hesitate) and returned to China as one of the first professionals.

Huang passed away at the age of 58. His passing left the scientific community in sorrow, but he will be remembered forever for his devotion to his field and the love of his motherland.

One person with great strength can defeat ten     1     are skilled, but he needs to use tricks to win wisely. This is the essential message of Huaquan Fist. Great strength leads to explosive force.

Wang Yuanxiang was born     2     a martial arts family in Cangzhou City, Hebei Province. All his family members     3    (practice) and teaching Huaquan Fist since the Qing Dynasty. He is one of     4     fifth-generation inheritors(继承人) of Huaquan Fist. In his opinion, martial arts are a kind of culture. All kungfu schools should unite and inherit Chinese martial arts     5    (joint) .

    6    (achieve) his wish, Wang has kept practicing and reviewing fist formulas for decades. With many years of practice, he has had his skills     7    (perfect) . What’s more, he has had a     8    (system) understanding of the fist. There are four different styles of the fist, with less jumping but more hand     9    (position) . Feet are also used. There are many kinds of steps, like swooping, rounding, leaping and skipping. Wang believes that     10     the reason for learning martial arts is, one must stick to the virtues (美德) and use the genre correctly.

Ai Jing’s exhibition All The World Is Green opened on Tuesday, at the Helen J Gallery in Los Angeles. This     1     (mark) the debut solo (首次个人) exhibition in Los Angeles for the     2     (high) recognized multitalented artist, musician, writer, and actress.

The exhibition showcased     3     diverse range of artworks, including paintings, videos, and installations (现代雕塑装置),     4     (demonstrate) Ai’s artistic skills on and unique approaches to life, nature, and emotions.

At the heart of the exhibition, Girl on a Swing     5     (surround) by block-color paintings and a recreated grassy area, reflecting the artist’s inner world with colors of golden cornfields, shining sun, and expansive greenery spreading out.

By the year 2050, the world’s agricultural landscape could look very different     1     it looks now.

Around 10 billion people will need to be fed,     2     (up) from the nearly 8 billion on Earth today, and climate change will after     3     that food comes from. Already, warming temperatures are allowing tropical foods to thrive in growing regions further north,     4     they haven’t before—citrus, for example, is being grown in Georgia and avocados on Italy’s island of Sicily.

“Take your computer and type in climate change followed by your favorite food, and you will, half the time, get a climate change story affecting your favorite food,” says Michael Hoffman,     5     author of the recently published book Our Changing Menu. China launched a three-member crew to its orbiting space station on Thursday as part of its     1     (ambition) program that aims to put astronauts on the moon by 2030.

Where the Sidewalk Ends is a book full of fascinating poems written     1     Shel Silverstein. It contains more than 100 of all kinds of poems-some are happy, some are funny and some are     2     (excite). Each poem comes with a nice drawing by the author     3     (he). Some of the pictures are very silly.

My favourite poem     4     (call) Snowman. It is about     5     happy snowman, which always wants to see July. Other animals say that he will melt (融化) by then. But the snowman wants to see July so     6     (bad) that no matter what other people say, it does not bother the snowman one bit. This poem never says if he actually sees July. So you can only guess.

Another poem I really like is Santa and the reindeer. This poem is about Christmas. Santa has to give     7     (variety) presents to the children while one of his reindeer is always asking what’s for him. I guess Santa gets really annoyed because he puts a flea (虱子) in the reindeer’s ear. And the next thing you know, they fly away and are ready     8     (continue) their journey through the world handing out presents to all the children     9     have behaved well.

This book is fun to read because of all those unique poems. The     10     (character) of this book do many unusual things such as selling sisters, talking to fish and a lot more.
