The Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, has been officially listed as a UN floating holiday in its calendar of conferences and meetings as from 2024.

The UN General Assembly, in resolution (决议) , acknowledges the significance of the Lunar New Year, which     1     (observe) in many UN member states and invites the UN bodies at headquarters and other duty stations to avoid holding meetings on the Lunar New Year. The resolution encourages this arrangement     2     (take) into account when future calendars of conferences and meetings are drafted.

Dai Bing, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, said the adoption of the resolution     3     Spring Festival featuring family reunion and good wishes for the     4     (come) year has been listed as a UN floating holiday is very meaningful. It not only bears the ideas of the Chinese civilization of peace and harmony but also carries the common values of humanity like     5     (harmony) family, social inclusion (认同感) and sound relationship between man and nature.

Humans successfully reached the top of the world, Mount Qomolangma, for the first time in 1953. On May 23, 70 years later, a Chinese expedition team reached its peak and     1     (carry) out scientific research, which celebrated the historical adventure. Two disabled Chinese citizens who have planted trees     1    (voluntary) in Northern China have been voted (投票) by Chinese citizens as their inspiring heroes.

The performing arts in China date back to ancient times     2     the tribes (部落) took control of the land long before the culture became well developed. As the country began to unify and change, the performing arts used elements of different tribes     3     (create) harmonious performances.

May 21st this year marks the first International Tea Day,     1     was named officially by the United Nations on November 27th, 2019. To celebrate     2     festival, a number of events took place at the Chinese Businessman Museum in Beijing on Thursday.

The chairman of the China Culture Promotion Society     3     (address) the opening ceremony. “As a main promoter of the International Tea Day, the birthplace of tea and the     4     (large) tea-producing country, China has a     5     (responsible) to work with other countries to promote the healthy development of the tea industry. The “First International Tea Day Tea Road Cooperative Initiative” calls for people to promote international cooperation     7     cultural exchanges. A four-year tea promotion — Tea Road Cooperative Plan — was also issued (发布) in accordance with (根据) the initiative.
